I still don't get why people leave these places to get in such a state. House are fucking expensive, especially detached bungalows, no matter what state they're in.

I show you the classiest places. Bungalows are a very appreciating asset as they are no longer made. OOP I should say! Strange as a we a developed nation with a top-heavy old population all vying for these houses.
Making up for the lack of Bungalows by building more care homes! ....
