Special thanks to everyone who commented and upvoted my last post.
Special thanks to everyone who keeps our leofinance community engaged on-chain.

I was actually going to write a totally different piece of crypto content today. However, I couldn't resist sharing the articles on Vitalik Buterin's website. I'm not going to lie, this is the first time I actually found out about Vitalik's website while I was reading another crypto article on web2 world. Thanks to my reading habit. Nowadays reading is a keystone habit of mine. Mostly I read leofinance blogs and learn more about crypto from anywhere I can really.

Daily Leofinance stats by @friendlymoose

I really want to see these numbers go up and the quality of crypto content on LeoFinace improve over time. I currently thinking of running a small experiment to increase these numbers in a healthy way.

Buffet's infamous reading habit is what he attributes as the foundational tool to improve knowledge. He is a voracious reader who spends 80 percent of his own day reading.

We can go bed a little smarter each day by cultivating a daily reading habit. Within a few years, it starts to yield results. That's how knowledge builds up. Like compound interest. One of my main goals of reading is truly understanding what web3 is and improving my knowledge of Crypto and blockchain.

Let's talk about Vitalik Buterin's website. I always loved Vitalik and ever since his admiration for our Hive community made me love him even more.

My favourite article on his website is called Moving beyond coin voting governance, where he mentioned Hive a few times. His articles are highly technical for sure. If I keep reading every day about crypto and I'm sure within a few months, I can be able to understand some of them.

The reason why I'm interested in DeGov and DAO is that I genuinely care about improving the governance and DHF of our Hive network. That does not mean Hive has a bad governance/DAO model. However, we need to keep improving every aspect of Hive.

I love the fact Vitalik is thinking solution orientated and there is clear evidence in this article where presented and explained three different solutions to DeGov.

Solution 1: limited governance
Solution 2: non-coin-driven governance
Solution 3: skin in the game
Hybrid solutions

Thanks for reading my imperfect writing.

Questions for you.

  1. What is your favorite article on Vitalik Buterin's website?
  2. Do you think we should try to onboard Vitalik as an advisor to our decentralized Hive community?
  3. Can you imagine Vitalik plugging his website onto Hive and creating his own little token to reward the contributors?

I will also go for the same idea or opinion like you said about the Vitalik Buterin's website, since it has good effect on the hive platform or community I think that's a better choice since its helping to enhance the platform.

That's how knowledge builds up. Like compound interest.

I love that! What a great analogy!

  1. I really dislike Ethereum, I never go to the website.
  2. Vitalik is a genius from what I've heard, not sure if he's necessary though.
  3. That would be awesome!

Could you imagine the gas fees for each post if HIVE ran on Ethereum? 🤣 I don't think I'd like that one bit!

All benefits in life come from compound interest, whether in money, relationships, love, health, activities, or habits.

I don't think ETH will remain high gas fees forever and the community will fix the problem sooner than later. Like we trying to fix stability of $HBD

The more I read these kinds of articles like Vitalik's, I tend to create a more long-term view of the crazy crypto world and learn to stay calm and focused.

as the recent hostile takeover of Steem and subsequent mass exodus to Hive makes clear

I've never read Vitalik's article to be quite honest, a visit to link you provided got me reading few paragraphs.
I like the above quote from him, which makes me think HIVE is actually not unknown out there, we are visibly on the map and being watched with some degree of interest.

Hopefully we create more enticing interest to attract big crypto players over here.

Thanks to the steem hostile takeover.

Next 2-3 years are massive for Hive and the more we collaborate with a big crypto players the more chances we have to make Hive successful

I don't really visit his website because I really don't like ETH that much. Of course he shows up in my news feed every now and then though.

While I don't mind Vitalik, I don't really think he would make a good advisor to HIVE. After all, with his reasoning we might move away from our current zero fee structure and like before, I don't exactly like ETH that much.

I can imagine Vitalik plugging in his own token to reward contributors as it's just another part of the 2nd layer token structure. If HIVE becomes big enough, they will move in eventually.

While I don't mind Vitalik

It's about open to discussing ideas to build better-decentralized systems.

It's in our community's hands to make Hive big

Check this out:

https://vitalik.ca/general/2019/12/07/quadratic.html

I can see this method as an answer for centralization of power which comes with centralization of stake. Yeah, the biggest stakeholder still has 4% etc yada, yada, yada. Effectively we have system where you can easily buy your power. This in the long term is bad for Hive IMO, also it creates situation of cementing power centers.

Also, on the other end of the spectrum 1account 1vote is bullshit. Engagement and stake should be rewarded with more influence on the system.

Quadeatic valuation of each next unit of power coming with each next unit of money is some sort of the answer. But it needs to be tweaked very precisely.

This is very long term thing but there is always time to start thinking. It's nice you started this debate.

What are your thoughts on this?

Cheers!

I could somewhat understand all three different voting mechanisms that Vitalik explained in the post.

I think quadratic voting is very effective for projects to get DAO funds (DHF fund on HIVE).

1account 1vote is bullshit

100%

Vitalik says that DeGov solves two key problems

Funding public goods: how do projects that are valuable to a wide and unselective group of people in the community, but which often do not have a business model (eg. layer-1 and layer-2 protocol research, client development, documentation...), get funded?

Protocol maintenance and upgrades: how are upgrades to the protocol, and regular maintenance and adjustment operations on parts of the protocol that are not long-term stable (eg. lists of safe assets, price oracle sources, multi-party computation keyholders), agreed upon?

Like you said we have a system where you can easily buy your power. This in the long term is bad for Hive IMO, also it creates a situation of cementing power centers, and this is something we as a community tries to improve in the coming years and people like Vitalik can massively help Hive just giving the best approach to improve Hive.

Hey Brother,
I thought I'd check to see if you are blogging on Hive again. It's great to see you back.
I also have for some time now seen issues "with coin voting" as Vitalik puts it.
I mean what happens when the market cap is reached ? I assume that rewards stop being rewarded.
But then what incentive is there to keep the community active if they can no longer get rewards for posting? I assume some will keep voting out of habit and others will stop.
Also DeGov I agree DeGov is "both necessary and dangerous". Why ? Because what if a community splits like Steem and Hive. I mean I am happy as I left and joined Hive, but others stayed behind on Steem. Some of those people I still talk to and call friends. And while I have not asked I am sure that they are not happy that half the community left. It is important that we think about these things as we never know what the future brings.
Whilst that makes DeGov dangerous I also still feel it is necessary. I personally feel we need to finally become a global community and not just separate countries around the world. DeGov is helping to make this a reality.
As for the questions:
1: This is the first I am reading of Vitalik's posts.
2: Why not? he seems to already share a fondness for Hive.
3: If I full understood what he was talking about, from what I read. I would say he is not looking to create a token on Hive. But I could always be wrong.

Happy to see your comment brother. It has been almost a month and I created one content per day for the last 25 days on Hive. My personal challenge is to write every day on LeoFinance for 365 days continuously.

What happens when the market cap is reached?

Hive is an inflationary currency that means we'll keep printing more HIVE. So the supply of Hive is not fixed that means there is no upper limit for market cap.

Screenshot 20211108 at 11.33.17.png

It's so unfortunate for our community had to split because of the hard fork. We can change the past now and be prepared for the future and it's in our community's control. Me personally want to bridge the cap between Hive community and the rest of the crypto community to build a better future for us and our future generations. Like most cryptocurrencies, Hive is a massive social experiment and that's why is super important to work together with other smart people in the industry.

I personally feel we need to finally become a global community and not just separate countries around the world. DeGov is helping to make this a reality.

Virtual countries are going to happen sooner than many people think and we should be proud of ourselves to be part of this crypto and DeGov movement.

I'm also thinking of working on an idea to build a borderless crypto community on Hive with LeoFinance. Hopefully soon, I can start experimenting the idea.

2: Why not? he seems to already share a fondness for Hive.

I would love to see Viatik become a voluntary advisor for our Hive community.

I'm following Vitalik on Twitter for a while, but this time because of your post i realised he got a website. I've read a few of the articles by now, and i'm 100% percent sure on only one thing: i have more questions right now than before! Well my knowledge about crypto is bigger than before, but with bigger knowledge the unknown is also a greater amount.

1 What is your favorite article on Vitalik Buterin's website?

https://vitalik.ca/general/2021/05/25/voting2.html
Until i read this i was quiet sure a block chain based voting system is what the society needs, now i'm not so sure about it. I was a bit uninformed :) It has problems he mention within this article i was not even aware yet.

2 Do you think we should try to onboard Vitalik as an advisor to our decentralized Hive community?

I'm quite a new user of the HIVE, and everyday i learn something new about it. But with my limited knowledge i don't see what would be changed with his presence. Well the reputation of HIVE would be boosted for sure, but beside that what would be changed?

3 Can you imagine Vitalik plugging his website onto Hive and creating his own little token to reward the contributors?

I can imagine a lot of things, but his website seems like intended to provide a oneway communication. If he would like to have answers, comments, and proposals those could be there. He already created his own "little token"... :) ... and the contributors are rewarding themselves quite well.

Appreciate for writing answers to my questions and I just realized that I shouldn't have 3 questions in the first place. I'm glad to see you put in the effort to answer those.

I'm quite a new user of the HIVE, and every day I learn something new about

Welcome to Hive and I'm looking forward to being part of your LeoFinance.io journey.

I don't see what would be changed with his presence.

Vitalik experience and knowledge in the crypto space can bring massive value to Hive if he joins our community as an advisor.
