Under Ninja: "Who wants to hire a Ninja?" [EN - ES]

Mechas, Warriors, Samurai, Ninjas, each one of these elements or characters are the ones that attract me when watching a manga or anime and precisely, that last one is the one I want to focus on right now and that is due to the premiere of "Ninja Kamui", an anime released earlier this year, which is based on a very old anime, but before watching this new version of such a classic character, I decided to finally watch an original story, which uses the ninja world as a base to give us a story that uses elements characteristic of Japan that we see in these productions, a story full of Ninjas, action, comedy, science fiction, horror and a large number of excellent characters.

Mechas, Guerreros, Samuráis, Ninjas, cada uno de estos elementos o caracteres son los que me atraen al ver algún manga o anime y justamente, ese último es al que quiero enfocarme en estos momentos y eso es debido al estreno de "Ninja Kamui", anime estrenado a principios de este año, el cual es basado en un muy antiguo anime, pero antes de ver esa nueva versión de tan clásico personaje, decidí por fin el ver una historia original, que usa al mundo ninja como base para darnos un relato que justamente usa elementos características del Japón que observamos en estas producciones, una historia llena de Ninjas, acción, comedia, ciencia-ficción, terror y un gran número de excelentes personajes.

"Under Ninja" es un anime estrenado el pasado año, el cual está basado en el manga que lleva el mismo nombre escrito e ilustrado por Kengo Hanazawa; relata la historia de un Japón en donde después de la llamada "Guerra del Pacífico", la Organización Ninja de ese país quedo desmantelada y olvidada, pero la realidad es que supuestamente hasta 200.000 Ninjas se encuentra en escondidos entre la población, trabajando desde la oscuridad para solventar cualquier conflicto nacional y hasta internacional, todo esto es permitido por los entes de seguridad del Japón, ya que existe "NIN" (National Intelligence Ninja), una organización que mantiene un ferro status entre Ninjas en dónde los de más alto nivel obtiene lo mejor de la organización, en cambio, los otros son los de clase baja que viven pobres a la espera de una asignación, uno de ellos es "Kuro Kumogakure" al que sorpresivamente se le asigna la misión de infiltrarse en una escuela que podrá ser un lugar estratégico para posiblemente una nueva guerra puede surgir.

At first when I read a very brief synopsis of this anime and saw few images, I thought it would be entertaining to see Ninjas of enemy factions, using the city as a battlefield; this is not far from what this story is, but the reality is that Under Ninja offers a greater story where it uses many genres within the anime world which I can say that makes it a style of satire. There is something that surprised me and is the union of what we can know of what it is to be a Ninja and a spy, clearly both have many similarities, but what if just those similarities are united and maximized, that I think is the great thing about this anime that makes the ninjas, super-secret agents (seems a redundancy) which have gadgets with very advanced technology which makes this anime goes into the science fiction and comedy at the same time; this is what is perceived in the first episodes of the anime which are pleasant and fun.

The remaining episodes is where this story becomes more interesting, it becomes adult and even terrifying moments, it increases in level by the tension and twists in the plot and that does not mean that what refers to be satire is forgotten, on the contrary, that is still present, since the sense of humor, a dark one, is still present in the story. There is another important element or characteristics and that is the animation, which I found excellent and I think it fits very well in what this anime is; the style maintains a certain degree of realism and it works when the scenes are comic; now possibly in the action scenes they are not perceived very well because of the roughness of the movements, but I think it is not something that is considered bad because precisely, the realism in the action scenes, more than anything in the fights makes it look normal, correct and that is why when the "realism" does not appear, then there are no more problems.

En un principio al leer una muy breve sinopsis de este anime y ver pocas imágenes, pensé que sería entretenido el ver a Ninjas de fracciones enemigas, usar la ciudad como campo de batalla; esto no es alejado a lo que es esta historia, pero la realidad es que Under Ninja ofrece un relato mayor en donde se usa muchos géneros dentro del mundo anime lo cual puedo decir que la convierte en un estilo de sátira. Hay algo que me sorprendió y es la unión de lo que podemos saber de lo que es ser un Ninja y un espía, claramente tiene ambos muchas similitudes, pero que tal si justamente esas similitudes se unen y se maximizan, eso creo que es lo genial de este anime que convierte a los ninjas, en agentes supersecretos (parece una redundancia) los cuales tienen gadgets con tecnología muy avanzada lo cual hace que este anime se adentre a la ciencia-ficción y a la vez a la comedia; esto es lo que se percibe en los primeros episodios del anime lo cuales son gratos y divertidos.

Los episodios restantes es donde se hace más interesante esta historia, se hace adulta y hasta momentos terroríficos, aumenta de nivel por la tensión y los giros en el argumento y eso no quiere decir que lo referente a ser sátira queda en el olvido, todo lo contrario, eso sigue presente, ya que el sentido del humor, uno oscuro, sigue presente en la historia. Existe otro elemento o características importantes y es el de la animación, la cual encontré excelente y creo que encaja muy bien en lo que es este anime; el estilo mantiene cierto grado de realismo y funciona cuando las escenas son cómica; ahora posiblemente en las escenas de acción no se perciben muy bien por lo tosco de los movimientos, pero creo que no es algo que se considere malo porque justamente, lo referente al realismo en las escenas de acción, más que nada en los combates la hace ver normal, correcta y es por eso que cuando el "realismo" no aparece, entonces no hay más problemas.

The few expectations I had with Under Ninja were surpassed after watching more than the first three episodes, I'm not saying that the first ones are bad, far from it, it's just that being honest, they show you a comic style, not very serious where the use of a voiceover gives a context of the story and then uses characters of a certain age and rank to give depth to the past and the motives of the present and future; that time that this story takes is fundamental for a better development that as I said, continues with the use of comedy, the little seriousness, but increases in tension and action, in my opinion, is done better. This anime covers more than 70 episodes of the manga, which currently has 108 episodes being the last one released last February; personally I decided to read the manga because I wanted to see if soon a second season will be released, but seeing that there is still much to develop, it is best to follow the course of the story by the original material. I recommend watching this anime, it is quite simple, fun and very entertaining, as is the manga which is quite easy to read; I like that in Japan there is that respect for the source of the origin for an anime, whether story or animation and that is precisely fulfilled in this production.

Las pocas expectativas que tenía con Under Ninja fueron superadas después de ver más de los tres primeros episodios, no digo que los primeros sean malos, ni mucho menos, es que siendo sincero, te muestran un estilo cómico, poco serio en dónde el uso de una voz en off se da un contexto de la historia y después usa a personajes de cierta edad y rango para dar profundidad al pasado y los motivos del presente y futuro; ese tiempo que se toma esta historia es fundamental para un mejor desarrollo que así como dije, sigue con el uso de la comedia, la poca seriedad, pero aumenta en tensión y acción, en mi opinión, se hace mejor. Este anime cubre más de 70 episodios del manga, el cual cuenta en la actualidad con 108 episodios siendo el último estrenado el pasado mes de febrero; personalmente decidí leer el manga porque quería ver si pronto se estrena una segunda temporada, pero al ver que todavía falta mucho por desarrollar, lo mejor es seguir el curso de la historia por el material original. Recomiendo ver este anime, es bastante sencillo, divertido y muy entretenido, así como lo es el manga que es bastante fácil de leer; me gusta que en Japón exista ese respeto de la fuente del origen para un anime, sea de historia e animación y eso justamente se cumple en esta producción.
