Top Gun: Maverick - Film Review [ESP/ENG]

Sabrá Dios cuántas veces en mi vida vi "Top Gun"; recuerdo de niño ver varias veces ese film cuando fue transmitido en televisión nacional, ver a "Maverick" primeramente ser un intrépido piloto, sin ningún miedo, pero un gran trauma lo hace titubear sobre quien en realidad es y justamente será obligado a reponerse de ese trauma para convertirse en un héroe inesperado; Top Gun en ese momento se convertiría en un buen film de acción, un gran ejemplo de como se hacía cine en los 80', con un buen director como fue Tony Scott y por supuesto con el protagonismo de Tom Cruise y Val Kilmer; este film estrenado en los cines en 1986 fue un gran éxito, pero por no sé qué razón nunca tuvo una secuela y pienso que tal vez tanto guionistas como productores y demás personas envueltas en ese proyecto pensaron que la historia de Maverick terminaba ahí, pero 36 años después nos encontramos que el protagonista, el mismo productor con un nuevo director y guionistas tiene la necesidad por la velocidad y traen nuevamente a la vida al gran piloto y su historia de motivación para ser el mejor. En Top Gun: Maverick; veremos cómo la vida ha seguido para el ahora Capitán Pete "Maverick" Mitchell quien se ha convertido en un piloto de prueba que al seguir siendo intrépido, siempre tiene problemas con personas que tiene una mayor rango que él; justamente en uno de esos luchas contra una autoridad mayor hace que Maverick deje su anterior trabajo y regrese a dónde creo un nombre, una leyenda, regrese a Top Gun; en esta oportunidad un frío ángel de la guarda, contará con la experiencia de Maverick para que sea el instructor de un grupo de jóvenes pilotos para realizar una peligrosa misión que hasta se puede considerar suicida, esto hará que el capitán Pete, se enfoque en mejorar las habilidades de los pilotos en especial la de "Bradley Rooster Bradshaw" quien tiene un lazo especial con Maverick, esto hace que la responsabilidad y el miedo aparezcan poniendo en peligro la misión y la relación con alguien muy importante para él, es entonces que el Capitán Maverick deba saber manejar sus sentimientos y obligaciones para volver a ser nuevamente un héroe.

Al principio de esta publicación hice referencia a que Tron: Legacy no fue un éxito en taquilla por ser la secuela de un film estrenado hace más de 20 años, pero eso no evitó al director Joseph Kosinski de ser nuevamente parte de la secuela de un film que fue estrenado en los 80'; ahora existe una gran diferencia entre "Legacy" y "Maverick" y esa es que el nuevo film de este director demuestra excelentes escenas de acción y es que principalmente lo que se debe alabar del trabajo de Kosinski son las muy buenas escenas tanto de las pruebas, prácticas y combates que tienen los personajes de este film; me gustó que no se contuvo de realizar un gran número de estas escenas porque demuestran acción, pero también tensión y emoción; a todo esto debo sumar la fotografía de muchas de esas escenas las cuales son muy buenas, pero no solo son las escenas de los vuelos, hay muchas otras cosas más lo cual es captar la esencia de lo que fue el film dirigido por Tony Scott, creo que la manera de filmar los primeros 12 minutos de esta película demuestra un gran homenaje y eso es algo que celebro porque en un gran y completo trabajo.

At the beginning of this post I made reference to the fact that Tron: Legacy was not a success at the box office for being the sequel of a film released more than 20 years ago, but that did not prevent director Joseph Kosinski from being again part of the sequel of a film that was released in the 80'; now there is a big difference between "Legacy" and "Maverick" and that is that the new film of this director shows excellent action scenes and it is that mainly what should be praised of the work of Kosinski are the very good scenes of the tests, practices and combats that the characters of this film have; I liked that he did not hold back from making a large number of these scenes because they show action, but also tension and emotion; to all this I must add the photography of many of these scenes which are very good, but not only are the scenes of the flights, there are many other things more which is to capture the essence of what was the film directed by Tony Scott, I think the way of filming the first 12 minutes of this film shows a great tribute and that is something I celebrate because in a great and complete work.

El guion fue escrito por Ehren Kruger, Eric Warren Singer y Christopher McQuarrie; en mi opinión la historia es perfecta para este tipo de films y es que no hay duda de que Top Gun Maverick fue pensado para ser la película del verano en Los Estados Unidos; puede ser que exista alguna queja sobre el poco desarrollo de varios personajes, pero creo que está historia, está secuela no debería enfocarse tanto en personajes como por ejemplo el de "Rooster" y sí contar la historia de Pete "Maverick", un hombre que todavía mientras hace lo que más ama, busca un tipo de perdón o un mensaje de quien fue su mejor amigo y está aparece cuando debe regresar al lugar donde todo comenzó, pero esta vez no siendo un piloto lleno de inmadurez, sino uno que deberá de alguna manera usar su experiencia para ayudar a otros y así poder cerrar un gran círculo que define su vida; en esto sí que me parece que la historia es perfecta y es un gran complemento para la ahora franquicia de Top Gun, en dónde puedo tener quejas de hacer cosas repetitivas, cosas que se vio en el primer film, pero creo que son pequeñeces y tal vez si deciden hacer una tercera película, pienso que ahí en esa oportunidad si existirá una exigencia mayor en hacer una mejor historia.

The script was written by Ehren Kruger, Eric Warren Singer and Christopher McQuarrie; in my opinion the story is perfect for this kind of films and there is no doubt that Top Gun Maverick was thought to be the movie of the summer in the United States; there may be some complaints about the lack of development of several characters, but I think this story, this sequel should not focus so much on characters like for example "Rooster" and tell the story of Pete "Maverick", a man who still while doing what he loves most, seeks a kind of forgiveness or a message from who was his best friend and it appears when he must return to the place where it all began, but this time not being a pilot full of immaturity, but one who must somehow use his experience to help others and thus to close a big circle that defines his life; In this I think that the story is perfect and is a great complement to the now Top Gun franchise, where I can have complaints of doing repetitive things, things that were seen in the first film, but I think they are small things and maybe if they decide to make a third film, I think that in that opportunity if there will be a greater demand to make a better story.

No es un secreto de que Tom Cruise no es un actor el cual siempre realice diferentes roles para que sea considerado como uno de los mejores; por ejemplo si hago comparación a lo que fue el personaje de Maverick en 1986 a lo que fue este año, no solo está la edad, sino el tipo de interpretación; creo que este actor cuando era joven se apoyaba mucho en su atractivo y por momentos decidió mejorar en algunos aspectos de su actuación realizando trabajos más exigentes y cuando vio que no era tomado en cuenta para los grandes premios entonces decidió hacer actuaciones sencillas, para mí en las diferentes películas que he visto de este actor, su interpretación es la misma, sigue usando el atractivo como base y dependiendo el personaje es serio o relajado, pero igual sigue haciendo del mismo personaje una y otra vez, es por eso que existe diferencia entre Maverick de los 80' y el del actual, porque a pesar de ser alguien que pareciera no tener a nada y querer más, también muestra la madurez y entendiendo de las situaciones que debe afrontar, eso me pareció genial en esta película porque es una gran evolución para el personaje y creo que las intenciones por ejemplo en "Misión Imposible", ayudaron a Cruise en hacer a Maverick alguien maduro, aunque por el fanservice que exige este film, lo vemos hacer cosas que seguramente no haría otras personas a la edad de 50 años o más.

It is not a secret that Tom Cruise is not an actor who always performs different roles to be considered as one of the best; for example if I compare what was the character of Maverick in 1986 to what was this year, not only is the age, but the type of interpretation; I think this actor when he was young relied heavily on his attractiveness and at times decided to improve in some aspects of his acting doing more demanding work and when he saw that he was not taken into account for the big awards then decided to make simple performances, for me in the different films I've seen of this actor, his interpretation is the same, still using the appeal as a basis and depending on the character is serious or relaxed, but still playing the same character over and over again, that's why there is a difference between Maverick of the 80's and the current one, because despite being someone who seems to have nothing and want more, he also shows maturity and understanding of the situations he has to face, I thought that was great in this movie because it is a great evolution for the character and I think that the intentions for example in "Mission Impossible", helped Cruise in making Maverick someone mature, although for the fanservice that this film demands, we see him doing things that surely would not do other people at the age of 50 years or more.

Me divertí mucho con Top Gun: Maverick, sin ninguna duda entiendo por qué es el éxito en la taquilla americana y mundial de este año, es un excelente éxito porque a pesar de estar muy unida a lo que fue su historia que comenzó en los 80', se siente muy fresca y creo que eso atrajo a muchas personas que son considerados fieles fans y hasta nuevos; en eso puedo decir que está película es exitosa y es que para mí es la película de acción, del verano y una de las mejores que he visto en este año; me divertí viendo cada escena de acción, cada vuelo, la tensión en momentos llenos de suspenso, el fanservice es espectacular, todo bien hecho, bien escrito, todo muy preciso y claro, todo muy enfocado en su protagonista. Me sorprende que en el primer film se contó con Tony Scott en la dirección, alguien muy reconocido y famoso, también con Val Kilmer que era un actor en ascenso, con Meg Ryan que también comenzaba su carrera como actriz y por supuesto con un joven Tom Cruise que su carrera termino de despegar por esta historia y que ahora siga siendo él una vigente estrella reviviendo a este personaje y lo que podrá ofrecer en un futuro porque creo que tal vez una historia más se vea de Maverick y su necesidad por la velocidad.

I had a lot of fun with Top Gun: Maverick, without any doubt I understand why it is the success at the American and worldwide box office this year, it is an excellent success because despite being very attached to what was its history that began in the 80', it feels very fresh and I think that attracted many people who are considered loyal fans and even new ones; in that I can say that this movie is successful and for me it is the action movie of the summer and one of the best I have seen this year; I had fun watching every action scene, every flight, the tension in suspenseful moments, the fanservice is spectacular, everything well done, well written, everything very precise and clear, all very focused on its protagonist. I am surprised that the first film had Tony Scott in the direction, someone very recognized and famous, also with Val Kilmer who was an actor on the rise, with Meg Ryan who was also starting her career as an actress and of course with a young Tom Cruise who's career finished taking off for this story and now he is still a current star reviving this character and what he can offer in the future because I think maybe one more story will be seen of Maverick and his need for speed.
