The Last of Us | "Future Days" - Episode Review [ES - EN]
Por fin se dio comienzo a la esperada segunda temporada de "The Last of Us", serie original de HBO, basada en el famoso videojuego del mismo nombre que en su primera temporada relató el viaje que realizaron los personajes de "Joel" y "Ellie", el cual pudo significar la salvación de un mundo apocalíptico afectado por un virus que convierte a humanos en criaturas horrorosas, pero la realidad fue que ese viaje significó la salvación de Joel quien su vida se derrumbó antes del apocalipsis y que en el presente debió hacer lo que él pensó que era correcto para salvar lo que ahora considera lo más importante, pero ese hecho acarrea una serie de acontecimientos, más que nada consecuencias que deberá enfrentar en esta nueva parte de su historia.
The long-awaited second season of "The Last of Us", an HBO original series based on the famous video game of the same name, has finally begun. The first season told the story of the journey made by the characters "Joel" and "Ellie", which could have meant the salvation of an apocalyptic world affected by a virus that turns humans into horrific creatures, but the reality was that this trip meant the salvation of Joel whose life collapsed before the apocalypse and that in the present he had to do what he thought was right to save what he now considers the most important thing, but that fact brings a series of events, mostly consequences that he will have to face in this new part of his story.
En una temporada que contará con tan solo siete episodios, es posible que no se relate todos lo que sucede en el segundo videojuego de esa franquicia; posiblemente eso puede desalentar a ciertos aficionados y a otros crear preocupación por los cambios a realizar para que la historia pueda funcionar en este formato de serie de TV, personalmente soy de las personas que estaba preocupara por el desarrollo de la historia en la serie, pero con tan solo ver el primer episodio de la segunda temporada llamado "Future Days" fu suficiente para nuevamente conectar con esta maravillosa historia de un hombre con la necesidad de amar en un mundo apocalíptico y de una mujer en una etapa final de la adolescencia, queriendo tener una normalidad a pesar de su importancia en el mundo.
Craig Mazin dirige y escribe este gran episodio que con las pocas expectativas que tenía, me pareció un excelente comienzo para esta nueva etapa de la historia; posiblemente sea Manzin quien ha entendido que se pide tomar la influencia del trabajo realizado en el videojuego y plasmarlo en una serie de TV; muchas de las escenas son más que un calco de lo visto en el juego, creo que por supuesto al ser una versión de acción-real, existe más naturalidad como por ejemplo lo que experimenta Ellie en el baile del fin de año o las conversaciones de Joel con muchos personajes en dónde se releva su sufrimiento y añoranza.
In a season that will have only seven episodes, it is possible that not everything that happens in the second video game of that franchise will be told; possibly that may discourage some fans and others create concern about the changes to be made so that the story can work in this TV series format, personally I am one of the people who was worried about the development of the story in the series, but just watching the first episode of the second season called "Future Days" was enough to reconnect with this wonderful story of a man with the need to love in an apocalyptic world and a woman in a final stage of adolescence, wanting to have a normality despite its importance in the world.
Craig Mazin directs and writes this great episode which with the low expectations I had, I found to be an excellent start to this new stage of the story; possibly it is Manzin who has understood that it is asking to take the influence of the work done in the video game and translate it into a TV series; many of the scenes are more than a copy of what was seen in the game, I think that of course being an action-real version, there is more naturalness as for example what Ellie experiences at the New Year's Eve dance or Joel's conversations with many characters where his suffering and longing is relieved.
Me gusta que más que nunca se tenga esa sensación de ser un western, la música de Gustavo Santaolalla ayuda mucho a crear ese ambiente, pero en todo el episodio siempre está presente una característica de ese género, por ejemplo en el momento de observar el juramento de realizar una venganza hasta ver a uno de los protagonistas sentado en el porche de su casa tocando la guitarra, todo eso junto a los duelos verbales y miradas que van sucediendo en el episodio hacen que todo sea casi perfecto, todos desde el punto de vista de dos protagonistas que reaccionan de manera muy diferente a la relación que tienen.
I like that more than ever you have that feeling of being a western, the music of Gustavo Santaolalla helps a lot to create that atmosphere, but throughout the episode is always present a characteristic of that genre, for example at the time of observing the oath to perform a revenge to see one of the protagonists sitting on the porch of his house playing guitar, all that together with the verbal duels and looks that happen in the episode make everything almost perfect, all from the point of view of two protagonists who react very differently to the relationship they have.
Las preocupaciones que tenía antes de ver el primer episodio de la nueva temporada de The Last of Us, desaparecieron en un simple instante; en "Future Days" vemos como la semilla del odio hacia Joel genera profundas raíces que nublan la mente de aliados y por supuesto, de sus enemigos y creo que esa será el tema principal de estos siete episodios en dónde estoy convencido de que se hará de la mejor manera, el relato al momento más traumático y conocido de esta historia; eso me ha generado una gran expectativa y enganchado nuevamente a esta gran producción que no renuncia a sus orígenes y si demuestra nuevamente como hacer (en este caso) una serie basada en un videojuego. Así como ocurrió en la anterior temporada, en esta nueva, es el drama su característica principal y sé que no digo nada relevante, pero creo que lo sucedido con respecto a Joel y su manera de abrirse hacia Ellie, es lo que demostrará vulnerabilidad; este es un hombre diferente que espera recibir una recompensa por lo hecho, así lo piensa, lo vive, pero la realidad es otra, ya que no importa lo antes hecho, eso de igual manera generará graves problemas; recuerden que cada domingo hasta el 25 de mayo, se estrenarán nuevos episodios de esta serie.
The worries I had before watching the first episode of the new season of The Last of Us, disappeared in an instant; in "Future Days" we see how the seed of hatred towards Joel generates deep roots that cloud the minds of allies and of course, of his enemies and I think that will be the main theme of these seven episodes where I am convinced that it will be done in the best way, the story to the most traumatic and known moment of this story; that has generated me a great expectation and hooked me again to this great production that does not renounce to its origins and shows again how to make (in this case) a series based on a videogame. As it happened in the previous season, in this new one, drama is its main characteristic and I know I am not saying anything relevant, but I think that what happened regarding Joel and his way of opening up to Ellie, is what will show vulnerability; this is a different man who expects to receive a reward for what he has done, he thinks so, he lives it, but the reality is different, since no matter what he has done before, it will still generate serious problems; remember that every Sunday until May 25, new episodes of this series will be released.

Yo creo que uno de los episodios desarrollará lo sucedido en los 5 años entre la historia de la temporada pasada y actual y sea eso lo que desencadena su relación con Ellie, la terapeuta y la esposa de su hermano, todo eso junto a las consecuencias de sus actos del final de la primera temporada.
