Nuevo concurso de la comunidad de CineTV y en esta oportunidad debemos escribir sobre films dentro del género de "Vacaciones" y pienso que es perfecto por la variedad de historias que se pueden usar para entrar en este concurso y pienso en una gran número de films, algunos de acción, suspenso y por supuesto terror, pero decidí que para este concurso participar con una de mis películas favoritas, un clásico de los 80' y una de las mejores comedias del cine.

New contest of the CineTV community and this time we must write about films within the genre of "Vacation" and I think it's perfect for the variety of stories that can be used to enter this contest, a large number of films come to mind and o think of some action, suspense and of course horror, but I decided that for this contest to participate with one of my favorite movies, a classic of the 80' and one of the best comedies of cinema.

“Why aren't we flying?...”

A mediados de los 80' cuando era niño vi una de las mejores comedias del cine, justamente fue en unas vacaciones que vi por primera vez "National Lampoon's Vacation" o simplemente también conocida como "Vacation"; recuerdo que iba en un Ferry con mi madre hacia la Isla de Margarita (en Venezuela) y no deje de reírme por cada situación que le ocurre a esta familia en sus vacaciones, desde ese momento en cada oportunidad que era transmitida en la TV nacional (un sin número de veces) ahí estaba yo riéndome como si fuera la primera vez que veía esa historia. Antes de hacer una breve sinopsis de este film diré el por qué este film usa como título "National Lampoon's", esta era un magazine de humor que se creó en los años 70 y cerro en 1998; contribuyó con la promoción de film, obres de teatro, audios e historias cortas sobre el humor y muchas personas que fueron parte de este proyecto pasaron a ser parte de otros medios creando otras producciones humorísticas cómo este film el cual hago reseña y por eso recibió ese nombre. "National Lampoon's Vacation" relata la historia de la familia Griswold quienes viven en los suburbios de Chicago y está compuesta por: Clark y Ellen, junto a sus hijos, Audrey y Rusty; Clark es un hombre trabajador, un buen padre que decide pasar un buen tiempo con su familia y por eso quiere realizar un viaje hacia sur de California en dónde se encuentra el gran parque familiar "Walley World"; este es un gran plan para crear nuevos lazos con su esposa e hijos y porque no tal vez sea su última aventura como familia; ahora no todo plan puede ser perfecto y por la obsesión de realizar un viaje, por tener nuevas aventuras, Clark hará que su familia deba experimentar situaciones peligrosas y divertidas hasta lograr lo imposible para llegar a su objetivo final.

In the mid 80's when I was a kid I saw one of the best comedies of the cinema, it was precisely on vacation that I saw for the first time "National Lampoon's Vacation " or simply also known as "Vacation"; I remember I was on a ferry with my mother to Margarita Island (in Venezuela) and I did not stop laughing at every situation that happens to this family on vacation, from that moment every time it was broadcast on national TV (countless times) there I was laughing as if it was the first time I saw that story. Before making a brief synopsis of this film, I will tell you why this film uses as title "National Lampoon's", this was a humor magazine that was created in the 70's and closed in 1998; it contributed with the promotion of films, plays, audios and short stories about humor and many people who were part of this project became part of other media creating other humorous productions such as this film which I am reviewing and that is why it received that name. "National Lampoon's Vacation" tells the story of the Griswold family who live in the suburbs of Chicago and is composed of: Clark and Ellen, along with their children, Audrey and Rusty; Clark is a hard-working man, a good father who decides to spend some time with his family and that is why he wants to take a trip to Southern California where the great family park "Walley World" is located; This is a great plan to create new bonds with his wife and children and why not maybe it will be their last adventure as a family; now not every plan can be perfect and because of the obsession to make a trip, to have new adventures, Clark will make his family must experience dangerous and funny situations to achieve the impossible to reach their ultimate goal.

Esta película que fue un total éxito en los 80' revisando a todas las personas involucradas en este proyecto era algo completamente imposible que fallara; contar en la dirección con Harold Ramis que estuvo envuelto antes de dirigir este film como director o guionista en "Animal House", "Meatballs" y "Caddyshack" y que después fue parte de "Ghostbusters" y la gran "Groundhog Day"; seguramente creó en esa época gran expectativa en como pudiera crear las escenas perfectas para hacer reír porque hay que también decir que está fue su segunda vez como director en un largometraje, pero pienso que su trabajo es excelente igual como el que tuvo el guionista de este film, John Hughes, quien toma una historia que el mismo creó para el magazine National Lampoon's y desarrollo una mejor y completa historia de este viaje familiar; Hughes es una personalidad importante en el cine americano en los 80', las historias, los guiones que escribió pasarán a la historia por ser clásicos de cine que influencian a muchas otras producciones por ejemplo "The Breakfast Club"; es por eso que tanto el director como el guionista de "Vacation" catapultaron sus carreras al realizar un clásico del cine dentro del género de la comedia.

This movie that was a total success in the 80's reviewing all the people involved in this project was something completely impossible to fail; having in the direction with Harold Ramis who was involved before directing this film as a director or screenwriter in "Animal House", "Meatballs" and "Caddyshack" and later was part of "Ghostbusters" and the great "Groundhog Day"; surely created at that time great expectation on how he could create the perfect scenes to make people laugh because it must also be said that this was his second time as a director in a feature film, but I think his work is excellent as was the work of the screenwriter of this film, John Hughes, who took a story he created for National Lampoon's magazine and developed a better and complete story of this family trip; Hughes is an important personality in American cinema in the 80's, the stories, the scripts he wrote will go down in history for being movie classics that influenced many other productions such as "The Breakfast Club"; that is why both the director and the screenwriter of "Vacation" catapulted their careers by making a classic film within the comedy genre.

Lo que más me sorprende de este film es que tiene una duración corta, pero eso no evita que tengas muchas escenas con ocurrencias y personajes cómicos; son 98 minutos de un gran ritmo que completamente diferentes situaciones y es que en momentos puedo comparar a este film con algún show humorístico de TV porque creo está compuesto de varios sketches, por ejemplo la situación de Clark con la rubia sexi, la visita a los primos, la inclusión de la tía nada simpática al viaje, el perro, los accidentes y por supuesto el gran final; son diferentes situaciones que complementan un gran y divertido film y pienso que es uno de los grandes puntos positivos que tiene esta producción porque no se contienen en realizar escenas cómicas, pero sabe cómo y cuando hacerlas porque une la comedia física, el diálogo acertado que es perturbador y cómico e igual hasta momentos que son cruel, pero por el film te hacen reír; creo que está es una de las películas más inteligente que he visto y eso lo digo por el desarrollo de una simple historia donde lo que debe salir mal, saldrá mal. Aparte de todo lo que he contado sobre como está estructurada la historia, pienso que los personajes son parte importante y "Clark Griswold" es alguien que solo él pudo ocasionar todo lo que sucede en este film; la interpretación de Chevy Chase es única, es el típico tipo noble, tonto, en realidad posiblemente estúpido, pero es una gran persona aunque terco y siempre equivocado en varias (muchas cosas), todas esas características son un gran complemento para este film y no hay duda de que sin él ninguna otra actuación hubiera funcionado.

What surprises me most about this film is that it has a short duration, but that does not prevent you have many scenes with witticisms and funny characters; are 98 minutes of a great pace that completely different situations and is that at times I can compare this film with a humorous TV show because I think it is composed of several sketches, for example the situation of Clark with the sexy blonde, the visit to the cousins, the inclusion of the aunt nothing nice to the trip, the dog, accidents and of course the grand finale; are different situations that complement a great and funny film and I think that is one of the great positive points that this production has because it does not hold back in making funny scenes, but knows how and when to do them because it unites the physical comedy, the right dialogue that is disturbing and funny and even moments that are cruel, but because the film makes you laugh; I think this is one of the most intelligent films I've seen and I say that because of the development of a simple story where what should go wrong, will go wrong. Apart from everything I have told about how the story is structured, I think the characters are an important part and "Clark Griswold" is someone that only he could cause everything that happens in this film; the interpretation of Chevy Chase is unique, he is the typical noble guy, dumb, actually possibly stupid, but he is a great person although stubborn and always wrong in several (many things), all those characteristics are a great complement for this film and there is no doubt that without him no other performance would have worked.

Vacation es un gran film, uno de los mejores dentro del género de comedia, familiar y Road Trip; pienso que ha influenciado en muchas otras historias más como "RV" (2006) protagonizada por Robin Williams que no recibió críticas positivas y el gran éxito de Netflix y que considero como una de las mejores películas del pasado año, "The Mitchells vs The Machines", justamente esta película si toma la esencia de vacaciones creando escenas sumamente cómicas tal como lo hace el film del cual reseñó en esta publicación. Esta película tuvo dos secuelas y un "remake/secuela" en el 2015; vi las secuelas directas y no me gustaron y por eso decidí no ver la nueva versión y es que ese es el gran problema de tener un gran idea y tratar no de mejorar, sino de repetir lo ya hecho una y otra vez desgastando a buenos personajes, a una buena historia y al público que amó este primer film. Si no han visto este clásico del cine, debo invitarlos a verlo; lo recomiendo en un 100% porque es una de las mejores películas de vacaciones que existen, creo que entre esta y "Hostal" debe ser las mejores películas dentro de este género vacacional que encajan perfectamente en este concurso; espero que alguien haga una reseña de Hostal porque es otra gran historia y que así como "Vacation" también sufrió del desgaste de las secuelas, pero no hay dudas que sus primeras películas son excelentes.

Vacation is a great film, one of the best within the genre of comedy, family and Road Trip; I think it has influenced many other stories like "RV" (2006) starring Robin Williams which did not receive positive reviews and the great success of Netflix and that I consider one of the best films of last year, "The Mitchells vs The Machines", just this film if you take the essence of vacation creating extremely funny scenes as does the film of which reviewed in this publication. This film had two sequels and a "remake/sequel" in 2015; I saw the direct sequels and I did not like them and that is why I decided not to see the new version and that is the big problem of having a great idea and trying not to improve, but to repeat what has already been done over and over again wearing out good characters, a good story and the audience that loved this first film. If you have not seen this classic film, I must invite you to see it; I recommend it 100% because it is one of the best vacation films that exist, I think that between this and "Hostel" must be the best films within this vacation genre that fit perfectly in this contest; I hope someone makes a review of Hostel because it is another great story and that as well as "Vacation" also suffered from the wear of the sequels, but there is no doubt that his first films are excellent.
