Un divertido viaje por Europa se transformará en uno de terror... "An American Werewolf in London"
Ha llegado la tercera del concurso "The Best of Horror" creado por @wiseagent, si quieren saber las bases del concurso se las dejo en el próximo link; en esta semana debemos enfocarnos en películas de terror de los 80' para mí esta época demuestra el pico más alto sobre películas de terror, es por eso que existen muchas historias con mucha variedad para poder participar; en mi caso traigo un film que influyo en diferentes directores y guionistas a contar de forma diferente una historia de terror, una basada en una de esas criaturas de la noche que a su vez han sido las grandes pioneras de las muchas películas de terror que han existido y que existirán.

The third of the contest "The Best of Horror " created by @wiseagent has arrived, if you want to know the rules of the contest I leave them in the next link; in this week we must focus on horror films of the 80' for me this era shows the highest peak about horror films, that's why there are many stories with a lot of variety to be able to participate; in my case I bring a film that influenced different directors and screenwriters to tell in a different way a horror story, one based on one of those creatures of the night that in turn have been the great pioneers of the many horror films that have existed and will exist.
"An American Werewolf in London", film estrenado en 1981, relata la historia de dos amigos americanos, mochileros, que hacen un viaje por Europa, mientras están en Inglaterra por asuntos del destino terminan en un pueblo montañoso alejado de la ciudad, en su breve estadía ellos serán advertidos, pero sin prestar atención a estos consejos, ellos seguirán su viaje el cual los llevara a caminos en donde deberán enfrentar los peligros de la noche causados por la luna llena.
An American Werewolf in London", a film released in 1981, tells the story of two American friends, backpackers, who make a trip through Europe, while in England, they arrive in a mountain village far from the city, in their brief stay they will be warned, but without paying attention to this advice, they will continue their journey which will take them to roads where they must face the dangers of the night caused by the full moon.
Recuerdo que de niño pudo ver esta película en una versión semi censurada transmitida por la televisión nacional, siempre me gustó ver muchas cosas como por ejemplo la interacción entre estos dos amigos a pesar de todo lo que sucede en esta historia y lo pienso es lo más impactante de este film lo cual es la transformación a hombre lobo; tiempo después le he tomado mucho más apreció por cómo está hecha y por quienes estuvieron envueltos en este proyecto. La dirección y escritura del guion vino por parte de John Landis quien siempre ha estado envuelto en dirigir, escribir y producir películas de comedia muy famosas entre finales de los 70' y en los 80', para esta película se enfoca mucho en crear el ambiente necesario para las escenas de terror, unas en dónde la víctima es importante, mostrar la clama antes de la tormenta, cosa muy parecida a lo hecho por Spielberg en JAWS (sin el soundtrack de John Williams), me gusta este tipo de escenas, demuestra que podemos estar en el mejor momento de nuestras vidas y de forma repentina nos puede suceder cualquier cosa, es querer mostrar una realidad en una historia sobrenatural, lo otro es que pasear de ser un film de terror, no le importa crear escenas de humor simple e inocente, pero también crear escenas con un humor sarcástico lleno de imágenes retorcidas.
El guion nos relata una historia directa y eso es algo que me fascina, está es la historia de un hombre que se convierte en un hombre lobo, es simple, no busca contar algo que haga desviar al espectador sobre la historia principal, no busca perder el tiempo en eso como ocurre en varias películas de este género, pero si hay algo que es fiel a eso y es en crear sus propias reglas, me guste que se enfoque en historias de víctimas, de inocentes que sienten que no puede pasarle nada malo a pesar de estar en lugares desconocidos, creo que muchas personas pueden suceder cosas malas, cosas inesperadas que los cambiarán por siempre, lo otro es que si quisiera tratar de analizar este film tranquilamente puedo decir de cómo hay personas con inestabilidad mental que podrán saciar sus deseos, bloquearlos de sus mentes hasta querer nuevamente repetirlos sin importar las consecuencias; Landis creó una buena forma de contar una historia de terror, una de monstruos, comedia y romance.
I remember as a kid watching this movie in a semi-censored version broadcasted on national television, I always liked to see many things like the interaction between these two friends despite everything that happens in this story and what I think is the most shocking of this film which is the transformation to werewolf; time later I have taken much more appreciation for how it is made and by those who were involved in this project. The direction and writing of the script came from John Landis who has always been involved in directing, writing and producing very famous comedy films between the late 70's and 80's, for this film he focuses a lot on creating the necessary atmosphere for the horror scenes, ones where the victim is important, showing the cry before the storm, something very similar to what Spielberg did in JAWS (without the soundtrack by John Williams), I like this kind of scenes, it shows that we can be in the best moment of our lives and suddenly anything can happen to us, it is wanting to show a reality in a supernatural story, the other thing is that it goes from being a horror film, it doesn't mind creating scenes of simple and innocent humor, but also create scenes with a sarcastic humor full of twisted images.
The script tells us a straightforward story and that is something that fascinates me, this is the story of a man who becomes a werewolf, it is simple, does not seek to tell something that makes the viewer deviate on the main story, does not seek to waste time on that as happens in several films of this genre, but if there is something that is true to that and that is in creating its own rules, I like that it focuses on stories of victims, of innocents who feel that nothing bad can happen to them despite being in unknown places, I believe that many people bad things can happen, unexpected things that will change them forever, the other thing is that if I wanted to try to analyze this film quietly I can say how there are people with mental instability that will satiate their desires, block them from their minds until they want to repeat them again regardless of the consequences; Landis**_ created a good way to tell a horror story, one of monsters, comedy and romance.
Las actuaciones de David Naughton y Griffin Dunne, como "David" y "Jack" son muy buenas, no digo que sean para que hubieran ganado todos los premios por su actuación, pero creo que la amistad de sus personajes parece algo real, me gustaron mucho sus primeros diálogos banales sobre qué harían al llegar a otros destinos y más me gustaron los consejos que da Jack a David al final del film, aparte de las escenas de terror, las que comparten estos actores son muy buenas, son terroríficas y muy divertidas.
The performances of David Naughton and Griffin Dunne, as "David" and "Jack" are very good, I'm not saying they are so they would have won all the awards for their performance, but I think the friendship of their characters seems something real, I really liked their first banal dialogues about what they would do when they would reach other destinations and more I liked the advice that Jack gives to David at the end of the film, apart from the horror scenes, the ones that these actors share are very good, they are terrifying and very funny.
En esta película hay algo que no puede pasar desapercibido, ese es el gran trabajo de maquillaje hecho por Rick Baker, no hay nada más especial que el trabajo hecho en esta película en la escena de transformación de David a Hombre Lobo y a eso le sumo la descomposición que tiene Jack en el transcurso de la historia, sin ninguna duda que es algo que capta la atención a primer vista y a las siguientes, en lo personal no me canso de ver esas escenas, ya que son muy importantes y relevantes y hay que decir que sin esa magia creada por Baker, está película ni fuera tenido ese impacto; sin ninguna duda que "An American Werewolf in London" es una de las películas que más me gusta de ver, es un clásico que influenciado a muchos otros directores y guionista de seguir ese camino del terror y la comedia, me guste que sea simple, que cuente la historia que cualquiera persona por muy buena que sea, puede transformarse en un monstruo, me guste que se tome tiempo para la comedia, el romance y el terror, creo que eso es lo que la hace especial y única. In this movie there is something that can't go unnoticed, that's the great makeup work made by Rick Baker, there is nothing more special than the work done in this movie in the scene of David's transformation to Werewolf and to that I add the decomposition that Jack has in the course of the story, without any doubt that is something that captures the attention at first sight and the following ones, personally I never get tired of watching those scenes, because they are very important and relevant and it must be said that without that magic created by Baker, this movie wouldn't even have that impact; without any doubt that "An American Werewolf in London" is one of the movies that I like to see the most, it is a classic that influenced many other directors and screenwriters to follow the path of horror and comedy, I like that it is simple, that it tells the story that any person, no matter how good they are, can turn into a monster, I like that it takes time for comedy, romance and horror, I think that's what makes it special and unique. Este clásico lo disfrute pro primera vez fue en televisión, creo que fue por venevision, años después es que pude verlo en VHS jajajaja que buenos tiempos.
Hubo un tiempo que Venevision lo pasó temprano, como a la 1:00 pm, yo me sorprendía cada vez que veía al cadáver del amigo hablar, una locura y ver ese estilo de maquillaje creo que le da mas importancia a esta película, en esta época le meten full CGI y listo.
Interesante iniciativa. Bueno confieso que no he visto esta película jajaja pero siempre de niño me agradaron las películas de terror (cuando me dejaban verlas) pero para los años 80 y 90 tengo muy poca información objetiva.
La historia del hombre lobo siempre es un gancho para el género de terror, en lo particular me agrada esa historia clásica.

Es muy buena, no se aleja para nada de otras historias sobre hombres lobo, pero lo que la hace ser diferente y especial es el tipo de humor retorcido y el gran maquillaje y si no las has visto, como siempre digo nunca es tarde para ver una buena película, ojalá tengas la oportunidad y ganas de verla.
Me recuerdo que fui a ver esta película en el cine Altamira cuando tenía 13 años. Era censura B y no podía entrar. Practicamente para poder hacerlo me puse zapatos de vestir con tres plantillas para verme más alto, y una chaqueta acolchada para parecer más gordo. Fui un día martes a las 5 p.m en donde no habia mucha gente, y creo que el portero me dejo entrar de pura risa que le cause.
La dinámica relación de comedia entre sus protagonistas me gusto mucho, y la transformación en Hombre Lobo nunca la habia visto de esa manera, el tono de la pelicula era muchisimo más irrevernte que el de Aullidos, película de ese mismo año que también toca el tema de la licantropía. Excelentes efectos especiales y de maquillaje. Muy merecido el Oscar otorgado en el renglon de maquillaje
Necesito volver a ver "Aullidos" la vi de niño y no recuerdo nada de que se trata, se que dentro de un tiempo harán una serie sobre esa historia producida por quién hizo IT hace unos dos años atrás.
Su plan para entrar a ver esa película es el mejor que he leído, mi plan era mis bigotes de muchacho y bueno la altura para mi edad, pero lo de las plantillas y la chaqueta fue un plan épico
