LOH #312 | Always my favourite: the winter weather ☁️ [ESP/ENG]

1000211423.jpg

Holaaa, amigas de Ladies Of Hive.

Hellooo, friends at Ladies Of Hive. I’m delighted to be back here writing to you. It’s been quite hot recently, although we’ve had a bit of rain, and today’s topic is about the weather: what sort of climate I prefer, or which season I’d like to live through here in my own country. Perhaps because we’re a Caribbean country, it’s only natural that the days are warmer and the weather doesn’t change much; however, how I’d love to live somewhere cooler with a cold climate, even if it means having to wear jumpers all the time, haha! Before answering the question posed by @thekittygirl, I’d like to invite @vezo to take part in this new contest too.

If you live in an area of world where seasons are usually predictable and regular, do you like that stability, where weather usually follows expected patterns? Or do you like more variety, where weather is more changeable? Is there one season when you really thrive and you're the happiest?

I’d like to be able to live in a cooler area, although I know that has its pros and cons. Even so, I think it’s the sort of climate I like best and feel most comfortable in. In my country, Venezuela, it’s very hot almost all year round, and recently it’s felt even hotter than usual, probably due to climate change, amongst other things. I feel that, despite being a warm country, when it rains the usual heat eases off a bit. Although the rain also brings certain problems, such as rivers or lakes bursting their banks (so it’s not entirely perfect), it is certainly needed to temper the intensity of the very sunny climate here.

Within Venezuela there are a few states — though not many — where the climate is different: it’s colder and it can even snow, but that only happens in very specific places. I’ve always dreamt of living somewhere that has all four seasons; I’d love to experience that sort of change in the weather. I feel it’s more bearable because you know that at some point it’s summer and then spring will come, and I must admit I feel a bit nostalgic about not being able to experience that in my own country.

However, in the colder states I’ve had the chance to visit, I feel really happy. There are lots of lovely things to help combat the cold, such as having a hot coffee, a hot chocolate or a cup of tea; in hot weather, on the other hand, these drinks raise your body temperature. Mérida, Barquisimeto and Miranda are among the places I know where the climate is cooler. I’ve been to two of them and found it a unique experience. I love the cold weather, although other people might find it hard to cope with.

That’s why I’ve always thought that at some point in my life I’d like to visit places like Canada, where winter is very much a part of life and the landscapes are beautiful and well-maintained. But yes, I’m definitely more of a ‘cold’ person than a ‘hot’ one. For me, it’s better to put on a jumper than to deal with the sun and the health problems it can cause, even though I know that the cold can also affect your mood. I’d love to live somewhere where winter really bites! ❄️🫶🏽.

I understand your desire to experience the change of seasons, especially when living in a region with a consistent climate—like the tropical climate of our country. Thanks for sharing your experiences, @naath

Winter can have it's advantages for sure. Depending on where you are at to experience, bitter cold is no fun though. I hope you get the chance to experience the 4 seasons. It is something to behold!

Thanks for sharing and have a lovely day! !LADY

Yes, the bitter cold can be a bit much for someone who hasn’t experienced weather like this before. But I’d love to live somewhere cold – not with so much rain, but more overcast and less hot 🤣. Thank you so much, my friend, for reading the post. Have a lovely weekend 🫶🏽

And if you come to the west coast around Vancouver, I'd be happy to show you around. It only snows a few days of the year in Vancouver but we could go up to the mountains and build a snowman on Grouse mountain @naath ✈️

That’s brilliant – it would be a great adventure, although I can’t climb mountains for health reasons, but I’d give it a go, haha. Thank you so much for reading the post, my friend. Have a lovely weekend ☺️
