This is my post for #freewriters Thursday prompt admire hosted my @mariannewest

Being a woman and hearing another woman tell you that they admire you is a wonderful feeling. Men seem to think the opposite, if a man came up to another man and said he admired him, their mind instantly goes in the gutter. But women do not think like that, I have had women come up to me at boat ramps and tell me this, I say thank you and give them a big smile. Some say they wish that they could take their own boats and go fishing by themselves. I tell them that they can do it and how I practiced backing my boat trailer up at home until I felt I had it good enough to put it in at a public ramp. One of these women now still goes with her husband but I have seen her parking the truck and trailer, so I know that she has been practicing.

The woman in my picture works at the fish house and has told me that she admires me, I also admire her. She works harder than any man that has ever worked at the fish house. There is a big vat just outside of the fish house. It is where the fishermen shovel their fish and fill it with ice and water. The conveyer belt picks the fish up and brings them inside to be sorted and weighed.

We went there today to get a fish to eat for dinner tonight. As we were driving there, I could not help but think that my husband has 49 years and I have 35 years of fishing experience between the two of us and here we are driving to the fish house in hopes of getting a fish to eat.

They were packing plenty of fish so we got a Spanish Mackeral for dinner.

Dawn, the woman in the picture, told us that the offshore net fishermen have been catching good fish and they had 4 boats still out. They have had a hard time making a living since the net ban. There are not many times that the fish pull far enough offshore for them to get a catch. By law, they have to stay more than 3 miles out.
