This is my post for #freewriters Thursday prompt singing hosted by @mariannewest

This morning, I stopped at the clinic to tell the doctor that I will not be going to another hospital. She had set everything up for me to go get the tests that she wants to run on me. Without insurance, I can only go to one hospital. Anyway, I stopped on my way fishing, when I tried to open the door it was locked. There was a note that said they would not open until 10:30 because they were having a meeting.

I went to the fish house to get ice and weigh my 3 trout from yesterday, my vision is not good when I come in from fishing so I go straight home, in the morning my vision is good.

My 3 trout weighed 9 pounds, I paid for fuel so that is a good thing.

I fished Del Mars rock pile and caught one jack. I fished the south little round island and the first bait I caught a trout. This has always been one of my honey holes but not this year, it was the only one there.

I went over to Preachers Hole and all I caught was one little snook. Then to the west shore, nothing there either. I went back to the little round islands and tried the middle one. As I was rowing my boat in to anchor I hear a little dog barking. I was on the south side and the wind was blowing about 15 out of the south so after not catching anything I went to the north side where it was calm. I was so upset that someone would leave a dog on an island with no freshwater. I pulled up to shore and started calling for the dog and this damn baby heron went to singing it sounded like a small dog barking. I felt better that there was not a dog.

I came back north and fished the south Sebastian island and caught 2 jacks. I was tired and depressed so I threw all my bait overboard, about 150 pigfish, and went to the ramp.

My vision is bad again so I will take this hell of a catch to the fish house in the morning.

My husband fished in Grant and he caught 3 trout. I do not know what happened that there are no fish in the river, we usually catch redfish but there are none of them either.

I wish there was an organization that wanted to save the commercial fishermen because we are going extinct.

Your wish, my research ... don't know if they can help with your specific situation, BUT, there ARE such organizations. Because I don't know your region of Florida, I'm including the whole Google search string: commercial fishermen in florida organizations

This was so great of you to take the time to research this, I am very thankful. But I can not find anything for my area that would help with the problem of there being no fish. I do not think this has ever happened before. I did look at all the links that I got from your link and most are for the big-time fishermen like in the Keys the lobstermen and the big boats to the north, nothing to help the river fishermen. I really appreciate you doing this. {{Hugs}}

No fish ... YIKES ... hmmmmmmm ... a lot of reasons that could be happening ... I've heard a lot of sewage leaks are causing trouble ... maybe the Center for Biological Diversity, which jumped in to save some freshwater mussels back in January, could help ...

Thanks for looking that up but we know the problem. It has been caused by crooked politics.
The river is supposed to be a brackish water lagoon, 100 years ago an inlet was dug which let in more saltwater, then in the 1990s, the state shut off all of the freshwater flowing into it. what they did was nothing more than dirty politics, they held back the freshwater until the river salinity was high then they dumped the freshwater all at once causing huge algae blooms. They told the media that the freshwater is bad for the river. With that in the news, if you ask anyone who does not make their living on the water what happened they say it is the freshwater. The truth is the state needs the freshwater to store in lakes and treat it to sell for all the developments that they are building. With there not being any freshwater in the river, the entire ecosystem crashed killing thousands of birds, hundreds of manatees, and even dolphins it also killed all of the seagrasses. Now they say the "seagrass" is coming back but it is not the kind we had which was a long growing grass that fish could hide in, what is growing here now is really an invasive species of grass. it is low growing and taking over everywhere, there were places that our old grass was trying to come back but this other is smothering it out. So that is why we have no trout, they used the long seagrass to hide from bigger fish. Sorry, this was so long.
