The complexity of rituals and cursed energy in Jujutsu Kaisen
First of all, I must say that I am not an expert at all on the subject of Jujutsu Kaisen and its universe. While it is true that I have seen all the chapters aired in the anime, I still struggle to understand many things related to rituals and cursed energy, so probably you can help me understand how it works or at least give me a hint, believe me I need some guidance with this matter. Ever since I started watching Jujutsu Kaisen, which I did because of hype more than anything else, I was very curious about the way the characters used their powers, but in reality that curiosity goes hand in hand with how little understanding I have about it.
Before I go a little deeper into the subject, I want to give you a more generalized impression about this anime and its plot since you are probably reading this and haven't seen it yet. In Jujutsu Kaisen we follow a group of shamans or sorcerers who have the ability to wield cursed energy through rituals, they are trained in a school to perfect these powers. Like everything in the world, there is also a counterpart which are the cursed spirits who are the enemies of the protagonists.
Primero que nada, debo decir que no soy nada experto en el tema de Jujutsu Kaisen y su universo. Si bien es cierto que he visto todos los capítulos emitidos en el anime, aún me cuesta entender muchas cosas relacionadas a los rituales y energía maldita, así que probablemente tú puedas ayudarme a entender cómo funciona o por lo menos a darme una pista, créeme que necesito algo de guía con este asunto. Desde que empecé a ver Jujutsu Kaisen, lo cual hice por el hype más que por cualquier otra cosa, sentí mucha curiosidad por la manera en la que los personajes usaban sus poderes, pero en realidad esa curiosidad va de la mano con la poca comprensión que tengo al respecto.
Antes de adentrarme un poco más en el tema, quiero darles una impresión más generalizada sobre éste anime y su trama ya que probablemente estés leyendo esto y aún no lo hayas visto. En Jujutsu Kaisen seguimos a un grupo de chamanes o hechiceros que tienen la capacidad de manejar energía maldita a través de rituales, éstos son entrenados en un colegio para perfeccionar estos poderes. Como todo en el mundo, también hay una contraparte que son los espíritus malditos quienes son los enemigos de los protagonistas.
There are different levels of wizards, some gain great power through training while others are born with great talent or predestined for great things. Physical strength is also an important characteristic in some wizards and although it can be counteracted with ritual techniques, it is still essential to withstand spells for or against for a longer period of time. On the other hand, I understand that the cursed spirits are entities born of resentment and resentment and whose purpose is to destroy humanity. There are also cursed spirits that are transformed humans.
As in any story, we see very strong characters on both sides, complex issues to solve on both sides, betrayals, debatable politics, interpersonal relationships difficult to understand, a lot of charisma in some and secrets that do not stop appearing. All this makes Jujutsu Kaisen an anime that can make you doubt your intelligence or attention (I speak for me in this case) since in several occasions I got lost in some plots. I think this happens because there are dialogues in which you must stay focused in order not to lose the thread as this can create a chain of disengagement, and well, I must admit that I have missed some arguments to move forward with what follows.
Existen diferentes niveles de hechiceros, algunos obtienen gran poder a través de entrenamiento mientras que otros nacen con mucho talento o predestinados a grandes cosas. La fuerza física es también una característica importante en algunos hechiceros y aunque ésta puede ser contrarrestada con técnicas rituales, no deja de ser fundamental para soportar por más tiempo hechizos a favor o contra. Por su parte, entiendo que los espíritus malditos son entes nacidos del rencor y resentimiento y que tienen como finalidad acabar con la humanidad. También hay espíritus malditos que son humanos transformados.
Como en toda historia, vemos personajes muy fuertes de parte y parte, asuntos complejos que resolver en ambos lados, traiciones, políticas discutibles, relaciones interpersonales difíciles de entender, mucho carisma en algunos y secretos que no paran de aparecer. Todo esto hace de Jujutsu Kaisen un anime que puede hacerte dudar de tu inteligencia o atención (hablo por mí en éste caso) ya que en varias oportunidades me he perdido en algunas tramas. Creo que esto pasa porque hay diálogos en los cuales debes mantenerte centrado para no perder el hilo ya que esto puede crear una cadena de desentendimiento, y bueno, debo reconocer que he dejado pasar algunas argumentaciones para avanzar con lo que sigue.
So, in order not to stray any further from the topic that quotes us, I want to emphasize what is related to the rituals and the manipulation of the cursed energy. It happens that there are many variations with complicated characteristics, sometimes they try to explain them, but as I said, the dialogues can be quite fast and if you did not understand at that moment then you will have to continue with the doubt because if something characterizes Jujutsu Kaisen is that the events develop in a frenetic way and I do not say this as a criticism, actually I think that is one of the keys to the success of this anime that may be one of the most successful of 2023.
I think the complexity of the rituals goes hand in hand with the fact that each one is different, to be more clear, they are abilities of birth of the user or are hereditary, so we hardly see that the rituals are repeated in different users. One of the rituals that are quite used in the anime that from my point of view is the most striking are the barrier rituals, these do not allow the entry or exit of humans or curses, but that will depend on the intention / configuration of the user and the amount of energy it uses. And well, what I have talked about so far is the only thing I know about it, but there is a wide variety of unknown rituals that will appear as the chapters go by and that frankly are far from my understanding.
Entonces, para no alejarnos más del tema que nos cita, quiero hacer énfasis en lo relacionado a los rituales y a la manipulación de la energía maldita. Sucede que existen muchas variaciones con características complicadas, a veces tratan de explicarlas, pero como dije, los diálogos pueden ser bastante rápidos y si no entendiste en ese momento pues tendrás que seguir con la duda ya que si algo caracteriza a Jujutsu Kaisen es que los eventos se desarrollan de manera frenética y no digo esto como una crítica, en realidad creo que esa es una de las claves del éxito de éste anime que quizá sea uno de los más exitosos del 2023.
Creo que la complejidad de los rituales va de mano con que cada uno es diferente, para ser más claro, son habilidades de nacimiento del usuario o son hereditarias, por lo que difícilmente veamos que los rituales se repitan en diferentes usuarios. Uno de los rituales que son bastante usados en el anime que desde mi punto de vista es de los más llamativos son los de barrera, estos no permiten la entrada o salida de humanos o maldiciones, pero eso va a depender de la intención/configuración del usuario y de la cantidad de energía que éste use. Y bueno, lo que he hablado hasta ahora es lo único que sé al respecto, pero hay una amplia variedad de rituales desconocidos que van a apareciendo con el pasar de los capítulos y que francamente se alejan de mi comprensión.

These kind of movies are becoming very popular these days both kids and adults like to watch and the story looks very interesting so I will definitely watch it.
I have not watched the anime but I assure you that I would be the same haha and I say this because I have watched other anime where they try to explain the origins of certain powers or abilities and my brain atrophies because I never understand it at the first or second, or third haha and I resort to ask someone else to explain it to me 😂
Yes, the truth is that some powers are difficult to understand, even more so when these are explained to you in such a fast and frantic way. So it seems we have the same problem 🤷♀.

Puedo decirte que el hype que tiene este anime esta bastante justificado, es uno muy completo con excelente historia y animación. Te aseguro que no te arrepentirás cuando lo veas.
muy bueno tu explicación y punto de vista de los rituales, ciertamente se ven que tienen su complejidad sobre todo en el manejo de sus energías como le paso a Itadori para controlar su maná o fuerza que le permitiera hacer los hechizos o al menos al golpear este fuera controlado, preciso y sin daño colateral.

En realidad considero que mi explicación es bastante genérica ya que hay rituales que considero que son bastante complicados, y bueno, no es que sea incapaz de entenderlos, pero en el anime no se preocupan por explicárnoslos con calma 😅.

I like this anime, but sometimes I feel that the explanation of how the abilities system works is kind of rushed and does not allow the viewer to digest what is going on, especially in its second season, but that's just my personal opinion xD
I totally agree with you, they explain everything in a very frantic way and if you stop to think you miss out on other things, so the only thing left to do is to move forward with the following 🤷♀.
After a certain point i gave up trying to understand the logic and stayed for the story and cool battles :p
