MF Ghost - A good way to make a sequel

Some time ago I mentioned in a post that Initial D anime is one of the best things I've ever seen. It corresponds to the unusual and little known racing genre, but somehow I connected with this kind of story and that was probably because at that time I wanted to have a car and I also liked to watch F1 races. The speed and adrenaline that is generated in racing has always caught my attention, it never ceases to impress me how competition vehicles can reach such high speeds, and now that I have a car those things awaken more interest in me, although obviously I don't try to imitate those things with my old truck.

To give you some context, Initial D tells the story of Takumi Fujiwara, a young street racer who, aboard his Toyota AE86, managed to earn the respect and the title of the fastest racer in several circuits in Japan, of course, these circuits are not official races, but public roads. In these races, Takumi met many renowned racers, among them Ryosuke Takahashi, a wealthy genius who later formed a team to tour several prefectures of Japan with the intention of becoming the best in the region.

Everything I mentioned in the previous paragraph reads like something simple, but believe me, many things happened along the way and at the end of it all somehow the team dissolved and everyone went their own way, or that's what I thought. Well, it turns out that in MF Ghost we meet again several of the characters we usually saw in Initial D, but obviously in more mature and professional roles.

To give you context (again), MF Ghost does not focus on illegal street racing, but on much more professional and publicly organized racing. Here we see much more advanced vehicles and higher level drivers. European cars are the ones that set the standard for being more powerful, but of course there is no shortage of those who proudly insist on Japanese cars, however, it is noticeable that they have many disadvantages.

In the anime MF Ghost, the protagonist is Kanata Livington, a young half-Japanese, half-English boy who returned to Japan with the intention of looking for his lost father, but not only that, this young prodigy graduated from a renowned racing school in England and in that sense had the opportunity to participate in the qualifiers to enter the top 15 who are those who have the privilege of running in the prestigious MF Ghost, and well, with some luck he managed to enter.

Some characters from Initial D are gradually present in MF Ghost and that is one of the things that pleased me because I must confess that I started watching it without knowing that both stories were related, although in fact the design of the characters was what caused me some suspicion and suspicion because they are quite similar. It was after watching the first chapter that I found out about the connections and from then on I didn't stop watching it, in fact, it only took me a couple of days to watch the 12 chapters that have been released so far.

In the title of the post I say that MF Ghost is a good way to make a sequel since I feel that the author tries not to relate them so directly. While it is true that we can see references and some characters from Initial D, the story follows a very independent and original course and that is something that strongly catches my attention as it is an opportunity to see something evolved and adapted to current times.

Here we see fresh characters, good animation (essential for this type of anime), good music and of course some comedy to lighten the plot at certain moments. I really like that the story moves fast and that there is some good car action. I highly recommend watching this anime, but only if you like this genre otherwise you might get bored. By the way, you don't need to watch Initial D to get into the world of MF Ghost, that's a big plus.

This anime is very well done and quite enjoyable. The only thing I can't understand is how the main character didn't recognize the girl when she was dressed as one of the angels.

I agree with you, although the girl totally changes clothes, I should be able to recognize her, he even got a slap from her, but I guess the main character is careless.

Clueless and very visually impaired. I don't think he should be allowed to drive without glasses. 😆

Those surprises are the ones that are nice, a well done sequel and you didn't even expect to meet the Initial D characters haha

I used to get anxious when my dad used to watch the races, that speed made me panic hahaha it's not for everyone I guess 😂 maybe watching it in an anime won't scare me so much.

Yes, the truth is that it was a nice surprise to see well-known characters that I had not seen for many years. MF Ghost has its own direction and that's what I like.

Thanks for your visit. Regards!

I've never watched a car racing anime before, though I'm aware of Initial D as it's a classic. Despite you mentioning that there's no need to watch Initial D, I guess I'd still start from it. I want to know the characters and the reference. haha

Yes, it would be best to watch everything from the beginning, in fact that would benefit you much more because Initial D itself is a very good anime, I assure you that you will like it. A hug!

The anime of Fast and Furious perhaps?

I'm true with @adamada's armed librarians so I guess I'll start this one...
I'm intrigued...

"Initial D" First Yeah?

It has nothing to do with Fast and Furious, but I understand that you think that since it is a racing anime.

And well, Initial D would be the first part of the story, but it is not urgent that you see it before MF Ghost, that depends on your time.
