Overcoming Fear in Decision Making

Making choices is an essential part of life, whether it's choosing a partner, deciding on an academic path, picking a career, or simply deciding what to eat for dinner. Every choice we make has an impact on our lives, so it's important to carefully consider each one of them. We must strive to make decisions that align with our values and future goals, avoiding any regrets or negative consequences.

I'd like to share a personal story with you all about a time when I had to make a tough decision. It was a difficult choice, but one that I have never regretted. I am so glad that I made the right decision, and it has had a positive impact on my life.

I had worked and saved money last year for this session school fees. I gave the money to a friend so that i wouldn’t spend or misuse it. When it was time to pay for my fees this session, I got a call from the hospital that my best friend was rushed in few minutes ago.

I dashed out from the house immediately straight to the hospital. On reaching there, I saw my friend lying down unconscious. So the doctor ran a test on her and discovered she had shortage of blood and brain cancer which will need immediate blood transfusion and surgery.

Unfortunately, my best friend didn’t have any money on her that period and a huge amount of money was needed for surgery.

I reached out to her parent and they came up with only half of the amount that was needed for the surgery which was not enough and it was needed to be done immediately to save her life. I thought of what to do to help her and the only solution was to use my school fees to balance up the payment – It was indeed a tough decision to make.

Funny enough, it was one week to the closure of the school fees portal and i thought of where i would get another replacement for the fees but i had no option than to help a friend.
I was so scared and thought of how my parents would feel. I transferred the money and the Surgery was done and she came out alive. I was so happy to see my friend back again but i was also in deep thought of how i will pay my fees. I was so worried, i had sleepless night thinking of what to do.

Interestingly, my kind gestures earned me a bigger reward. A night to the closure of the portal, i was gifted double of the money i gave out for the surgery from someone i didn’t know or met before. I successfully paid the fees and still had change remaining.
It was really a tough one but it was worth it.
