Hello #NeedleworkMonday. I’m happy to be here today sharing a simple pattern for a very popular flower—the sunflower🌻, which is often requested as a gift for special occasions. Since this Sunday is Mother’s Day, this crochet project is perfect for celebrating her. I made this with a lot of love. Even though my mother is in heaven, I made it to show it off because she was the one who taught me to crochet. Thanks to her, I’m excited about this craft, and it reminds me of her; I’ve become very passionate about this art. Here are the details on how to make it.

Me complace estar por aca hoy compartiendo un patrón sencillo de una flor muy popular, el girasol 🌻 muy solicitado para obsequiar en fechas importante, ya este domingo es el día de la Madre y este tejido es ideal para este homenaje. Este lo hice con mucho amaor, aunque mi madre este en el cielo, lo hice para mostrarlo ya que mi madre fue quien me enseñó a tejer, gracias a ella el don de esa manualidad me entusiasma y me la recuerda,me he sentido muy apasionada con ese arte. Paso a dar detalles para su elaboración.

Materials//Materiales:
- Brown and yellow nylon yarn.
- Size 2 crochet hook
- Keychain.
- Matchbox.
- Hilo de nailon marrón, amarillo.
- Aguja crochet Nº 2
- Llavero.
- Yesquero.
Abbreviations//Abreviaciones:
ch: chain(s).
mp: half point.
mpa: half high point.
pad: double treble crochet.
pat: triple treble crochet.
aum: increases.
dism: decrease.
pa: high point.
pr: slipped stitch.
ch: cadena(s).
mp: medio punto.
mpa: medio punto alto.
aum: aumento.
dism: disminución.
pa: punto alto.
pad: punto alto doble.
pat: punto alto triple.
pr: punto deslizado.
Process//Proceso:
Brown.
- Wrap the yarn around your finger 10 times, then use the hook to pick up a loop and work single crochet (sc) around the entire loop of yarn to form a ring, then slip stitch (sl st).
- Repeat for a second round of sc, sl st.
- Chain 1, increase in each space with a sc, sl st.
Yellow.
- Insert the yellow yarn.
- The stitch used for the petals is 5 dc; release the loop, insert the hook into the first stitch and pull through, 3 ch, sc, skip one space, and repeat the previous step.
Marrón.
- Se enrrolla en la punta del dedo 10 vueltas, luego con la aguja tomamos lazada y hacemos mp en todo el hilo formando una especie de aro y pr.
- Repetimos por segunda vez otra vuelta de mp, pr.
- Una ch, un aum en cada espacio con mp, pr.
Amarillo.
- Insertar el hilo amarillo.
- El punto utilizado para los pétalos son 05 pa, se suelta la lazada, se inserta el crochet en el primero y se hala la lazada, picot 3 chs, mp, saltar un espacio y repetir lo anterior.

It also lets us get creative with it—you can use it as a keychain charm, make it into a bouquet by adding stems and leaves, turn it into a bookmark by attaching a string of beads and a leaf at the end, or create other arrangements. I remembered I have a round mirror, and it occurred to me that if I crochet more pieces, I could use them as a frame to make the picture more eye-catching.

Esta flor 🌻 es muy emblematica para los dias de celebraciones y para este dia de las Madres es la ideal. Esta pieza fue realizada con hilo de nailon, me gustó mucho la textura. Ademas nos da a jugar con ella porque se puede usar como detalle para obsequiar en llavero, como ramo de flores haciendole tallos y hojas, como marca libros añadiendole una seguidilla de cadenas y una hoja al final y otras composiciones, recordé que tengo un espejo circular se me ocurre que si tejo mas piezas, las puedo usar como marco para darle mas vistosidad al cuadro.
