🌱Welcome to my blog🌱

Hi #Hivegarden After being away for a few weeks, I’m back to share a tour of my gardens—both in the countryside and in the city.

Between August and September, I went to the Falcón mountains—a much-needed trip both to check on things at the country house and to enjoy a change of scenery.

Because of the intense heat and strong sun, I had to go out very early in the morning or in the afternoons.
The plants have held up well against the weather and the drought. The bougainvillea hasn’t bloomed due to a lack of water—there’s been little rain, just a lot of wind.
When I arrived that same afternoon, I sheltered several poppies and lilies from the sun.

The next day I saw some buds on the pink lily, which made me very happy; then two, then three.
Later, I cleared away a parasitic vine that was killing the other plants; several olive trees were entangled in it.

The good news is that the sapodilla tree was still bearing fruit; in fact, my husband harvested it, and with whipped milk and sugar, we enjoyed a sapodilla treat with family and friends—very tasty and perfect for cooling off.

Since it's a semi-arid area, there are several types of cacti, so I made a few small pots to grow them as succulents. They stay small as long as they're in tiny pots. It was a very satisfying vacation.

As for the garden at my house in the city, I'm happy because the lemon tree is bearing fruit; I use it every day in meals, juices, and aromatic drinks.

The achiote, or onoto, also has plants that are almost ready to be harvested.
