Hello #Needleworkmonday. I’m happy to be here today sharing a mini collection of crocheted soccer balls ⚽. In 2006, when my son was 12 years old, we filled out the Panini album together—it was a wonderful experience. We even went all the way to the capital city to buy the last sticker sheet we were missing. I’ll go into more detail about how I made them.

Materials//Materiales:
- Sky-blue, white, yellow, red, green, and black cotton yarn.
- Size 2 crochet hook
- Hilo de algodón azul celeste, blanco, amarillo, rojo, verde y negro.
- Aguja crochet Nº 2
Abbreviations//Abreviaciones:
ch: chain(s).
mp: half point.
mpa: half high point.
pad: double treble crochet.
pat: triple treble crochet.
aum: increases.
dism: decrease.
pa: high point.
pr: slipped stitch.
ch: cadena(s).
mp: medio punto.
mpa: medio punto alto.
aum: aumento.
dism: disminución.
pa: punto alto.
pad: punto alto doble.
pat: punto alto triple.
pr: punto deslizado.
Process//Proceso:
Blue, white, red, green, yellow.
- Chain 26 plus one, turn at the third stitch in each stitch, chain 1, and turn; repeat for 7 rounds.
- Make three strips for each ball.
- Sew two strips together at the ends to form rings.
- Insert one ring into the other to form a cross.
- Then, insert the unsewn strip into the second one and sew it in place.
- Adjust the handles and stuff the ball.
- Shape it into a ball.
Azul, blanco, rojo, verde, amarillo.
- Se hace 26 chs mas una, devolver en la tercera mp en cada punto, 1 ch y girar repetir 7 vueltas.
- Hacer tres tiras por cada balón.
- 02 tiras coser en los extremos formado unos aros.
- Meter un aro en otro, una especie de cruz.
- Luego, la tira que no se cose se inserta en la segunda y coser.
- Mover las asas y rellenar.
- Dar la forma de pelota.

Although I haven’t been following this World Cup that closely, it inspired me to make these mini soccer balls. Between the power outages and the tragedy of the earthquakes, there isn’t much of a festive mood. However, to take my mind off things, I set out to crochet this design—it’s simple. The hardest part is assembling the ball by inserting the strips into the stitches, stuffing it, and shaping it into a circle.
Back in 2006, I also collected mini soccer balls that came with ice cream, and this year there really wasn’t much excitement about this World Cup in the country.
I’m sorry that Germany was already eliminated—they were my favorite—and now Portugal too. The mini Argentina soccer ball is for my son.

Aunque no he estado tan pendiente de este mundial, me provocó hacer estos mini balones de fútbol, ya que entre los cortes eléctricos, y la tragedia de los terremotos no existe mucho ánimo,sin embargo para distraer mi mente me dispuse a tejer este diseño,es sencillo. Lo más díficil es armar el balón insertando las tiras en los eslabones, rellenar y dar la forma circular.
También en 2006 coleccioné minis balones que venían en los helados, y este año realmente no hubo tanta emoción por este mundial en el país.
Lamento que ya fuera eliminado Alemania ya que era mi favorito y ahora Portugal. El mini balón de Argentina es para mi hijo.
