Night Journal - How to use it correctly?

For many years, I thought evaluating my day during the night just before sleep is what called making a night journal. It's not like, I didn't know it's not helping me a lot. But I never took the chance to explore how can I make this more productive. And when I do, I found a great alternative way!

Let's talk about it...

First, we need to understand that, thinking about our upcoming responsibilities and planning our to-do just before sleep is never a good idea. But more or less we all do this. And this is absolutely opposite to the idea of a night journal.

So what it is and how can we make this correctly to be more productive?

  • The thumb rule is, don't bring your thoughts to the bed. Take a five minutes time before bed like on your kitchen or couch to evaluate your day.

  • Write it down, if possible. This will make everything so easy to remember, to evaluate to see the success in front of your eyes.

  • Keep it simple. Rather than thinking about your to-dos, think what the bigger goal you have to achieve the next day. Like, don't just think about sending emails but increasing communication.

  • Give yourself a little appreciation for what you have achieved during the day. Even if it was a bad day, there must be something that makes you worthy of self-love.

Most importantly, breathe! Don't bring your worries and stress to the bed. Take a deep breath, let it go, and keep rolling. Remind yourself, you can always make your next day better if you have a good sleep.

It sounds silly but it's helpful. Give it a try!
