Night Journal - How to use it correctly?
For many years, I thought evaluating my day during the night just before sleep is what called making a night journal. It's not like, I didn't know it's not helping me a lot. But I never took the chance to explore how can I make this more productive. And when I do, I found a great alternative way!
Let's talk about it...
First, we need to understand that, thinking about our upcoming responsibilities and planning our to-do just before sleep is never a good idea. But more or less we all do this. And this is absolutely opposite to the idea of a night journal.
So what it is and how can we make this correctly to be more productive?
The thumb rule is, don't bring your thoughts to the bed. Take a five minutes time before bed like on your kitchen or couch to evaluate your day.
Write it down, if possible. This will make everything so easy to remember, to evaluate to see the success in front of your eyes.
Keep it simple. Rather than thinking about your to-dos, think what the bigger goal you have to achieve the next day. Like, don't just think about sending emails but increasing communication.
Give yourself a little appreciation for what you have achieved during the day. Even if it was a bad day, there must be something that makes you worthy of self-love.
Most importantly, breathe! Don't bring your worries and stress to the bed. Take a deep breath, let it go, and keep rolling. Remind yourself, you can always make your next day better if you have a good sleep.
It sounds silly but it's helpful. Give it a try!
