African palm oil has served the world from time immemorial. During the period of the industrial revolution in Europe, one of the products that moved from Africa was palm oil. This product accounts for about 35% of the export from the Africa hinterland to Europe.

Elaeis guineensis ( Africa Oil Palm) is highly fat-saturated and a class of vegetable oil. Speaking from the angle of human health, in recent times, medical professionals have opined people should shun the intake of fatty foods. This came as a result of the detection of many fat-related ailments. Obesity is one of the many fat-related ailments in modern times. Though, palm oil isn't a delicate oil. It is vegetable oil. At the level of production or extraction, when natural procedures are followed, it then does not become hazardous to human health. In Africa most especially, palm makes the most of meals prepared. So, the importance cannot be overemphasized.

Palm oil is about the second-largest producer of edible oil after soybean. You can see the important place of the vegetable to human existence.

There is enough evidence that when palm oil is added to the food of children and pregnant women, it can help reduce the effects of the deficiency of Vitamin A.* This goes to show one medical importance of the plant.

Without gainsaying, palm oil increases the level of cholesterol in people with large bone marrow. Hence, as speculated elsewhere, there is a heavy presence of fat in palm oil. For anyone battling with fat reduction, intake of palm oil-related food is not advised.

Traditionally, palm oil serves as an antidote against poison in humans. In our early years as children, when kids unknowingly drink some dangerous chemical components like bleach, kerosene, and whatnot, our mothers will quickly load our stomachs with palm oil as first aid before seeking advanced medical attention. To date, palm oil still works as an antidote for poison.

It is rather unfortunate that modernization has made people drift away from palm oil consumption. However, it is advisable to retrace our steps back to natural foods which reduce the rate at which cancer evolves around the globe.

Going further, the palm oil chaff is used as cakes in feeding dairy cattle.

The chaff is used as candles to lit up homes in villages where electricity has not reached.

The tree trunks are used in making local furniture like bamboo chairs and beds.

Kernel oil is produced from burning the seeds from palm fruits serves are body cream for dark-skinned people. Kernel oil also serves the purpose of curing convulsion in kids. This has been locally proven over the years and is still being used for the same purpose when the need arises.
