Grand Palace Bangkok|The residence of the Kings| Part 1 of my BKK Story

Have you been here? My boyfriend and I used to travel every anniversary. Last 2018, we decided to go to Thailand for our 6th year anniversary. One of our tour destinations was The Grand Palace. Long story short, I almost can't make it to travel with my boyfie because my vacation leave wasn't approved by my boss. It was either I can travel or leave my job. Without thinking, I decided to travel. I don't care if I have a job when I come back.

Life is too short. I have a life to live. I have been working straight for one year and I needed to breathe. What I was thinking is that I need to either find another job or fire my boss in my life(lol). I know my career is at stake but the hell I care. What is important to me is to relax and enjoy my vacation. I will think what to do next when I come back to work. I risked everything, losing my job is difficult for me too. I worked hard to be in that company but I don't want to miss the opportunity to visit the Temples and The Grand Palace of Bangkok. I always see it in Instragram and postcards and I want to experience it for real. I know there is another time. But did we expect Covid hit by 2020? Atleast I went there, yes I did lose my job but I am fine and I am more than happy now.
When we went out to our Hotel we were approached by a driver and gave us his offer for a tour. The price was a good deal so we gave it a go. We rented a van for our City Tour. We told the driver to drive us to The Grand Palace, Wat Po, Wat Arun, Chiang Mai, and Ayutthaya. The driver agreed we will be paying him 2,000 baht. When we started our City Tour our 1st stop was The Grand Palace. The Grand Palace was really a jaw-dropping scene, it was indeed so beautiful.
Food on sticks at 2o baht
When I got there the guards didn't let me in because my dress was really short (it was a knee-length dress) so I have to buy a wrap-around skirt (malong) outside. The Grand Palace costed us 200 baht. I also bought a t-shirt to match the skirt. After our picture taking with the palace, we went out and bought some streetfoods. We told the driver we wanted to go to Ayuttaya since we finished Grand Palace around 1:00 pm so we have a lot ot time to go there. Then the driver told us that Ayuttaya is very far and so he insisted Angkor Wat and Wat Arun instead. I didn't argue because I was tired already.
But the driver scammed us.
During our negotiation, he agreed he'll take us there but he did not. The next thing I knew and realized, we can actually take a grab car heading to Ayuttaya and with much lesser cost. The lesson in this tour was that you need to make sure you booked with the right agency not with someone who approached you in the hotel. The Tour went smoothly but I would love to go to Ayuttaya however we ran out of time that day. Probably on my next Thailand Escapade.

Stay tuned for the next travel post! 😘

I agree with you! Sometimes we have to put what we want and what makes us happy at the forefront. Working is indispensable but traveling is very pleasurable and they are experiences that you never forget 😊.
