I finally harvested the first seeds of my peyote.

The truth is that I am very happy and at the same time a little disappointed, first of all I am happy because I have already harvested the first seeds of my peyote, so surely from today I will be harvesting seeds regularly, just as the flowers were coming out.

But I am also a little disappointed because knowing that the genus lophophora is self-fertile, I let nature do its work through pollinating insects and as a result the fruit contained only 4 seeds, it may be because they are their first seeds or lack of pollen, now what I need to know is the germination rate they will have, so I need to wait until I get around 30 seeds to make three groups of 10 to get the result.

I have kept busy doing a lot of transplanting into individual pots to keep selling the excess cacti and succulents in my garden.

I have also been working on community pots where I want to go for a more natural look, when it is all done I will share more pictures with you.

I definitely still love the astrophytum

But also mammillaria

I still haven't decided if I should keep this species in my garden, the truth is that I am beginning to believe that it is a good idea to keep in my garden and private collection, only cacti endemic to Mexico, although I will probably keep this type of rebutias for its commercial value but it would definitely not be in my collection area.

Future rootstocks, I already have many ferocactus available, Herrerae, histrix, latispinus, emoryi, etc.

Can you see the growth of the Asterias? I still plan to sell them in my area to make room for my favorites and especially to be able to plant all the seeds I am harvesting.

But not everything is happiness, sometimes we do not mention the losses and you all know that it is not my case, here for example we can see that this beautiful specimen of Myriostigma Nudum rotted, the reason? The truth is that I do not know, that day I made more than 50 transplants and all are well, only this one rotted and it was almost a month after it was transplanted.

The smell was horrible and I can truly say that it altered me a little believe it or not, maybe it released alkaloids or it was my suggestion, anyway I am glad to say that I only lost this cactus and that I have transplanted a total of about 700 cactus in about a month, most have already been sold, although it has not been an easy job, in the next post I will tell you more, have a great week.

You are absolutely right, and this week I will surely harvest about 300 seeds at least, some will already be from cultivars that I didn't let cross with others to keep the genetics clean, I have to make a better explained post with all the details although it will take me quite some time.

My peyote makes seed pods too and there are never more than 3 or 4 in there - I haven't tried sowing them but I guess I should. Your hard work is looking amazing!

Thank you very much, and you should definitely sow those seeds, even if it's just for the pleasure of watching them germinate.

I'll try it for sure, I'm much more motivated now that my greenhouse is finished and I already have a lot of seedlings of all kinds, I'm getting better with this

It's definitely something I'd like to see.

Best of luck and have fun sowing seeds and watching them grow.
