It is indeed a blessing to witness another new day and we are grateful for the gift of life and strength to carry out our daily Activities. The Strength to work in the farm on a daily basis is highly appreciated as the labourous work of farming is never an easy task.

Currently the work on the farm has been more about vegetables and corn until yesterday when we added rice farming by planting rice in the nursery.

The crops we normally grow are vegetables of all types including peppers like Scotch bonnet, ball peppers and the chilli peppers that we eat, then grains like groundnuts(peas), beans, rice, corn, millet, sorghum . For the tubers we grow crops like sweet potatoes, yams and Cassava.

You can see that Navigating between growing all these crops have never been an easy tasks. We majorly grow these crops for food but anytime there is an excess of a certain crops, we sell them in the market to make some money out of it. The okro and vegetables are certainly some of the crops that we cannot consume alone and these are the ones we often sell.

Right after completing the weeding for our the lettuce farm we had entered the corn Farm and continued weeding the remaining parts of the farm

On most occasion we often apply herbicides to the parts of the farm where this is possible and for crops that can endure herbicides.
Then the manual weeding is often carried out for the crops and vegetables that can not endure chemicals or of which chemicals can cause them to wither.

There are selective herbicides for each crops, the herbicides will selectively destroy the grasses in the crops leaving the crops healthy.
Earlier on we had thought that we won't be able to have enough time to carry out the manual weeding exercise for this farm, hence we have gone ahead and added some herbicides.

Fortunately this worked really well and the grasses have all withered off leaving the corn..
The remaining portions where the herbicides was exhausted during application are the parts now where we had to engage in manual weeding to keep the farm clean.

These corns are growing pretty fast and healthy, soon enough they will start tasseling and no grasses should be left within the farm to bother the crops by then.
