Gradually we got started with the transplanting of the lettuce yesterday moving them from the nursery and transferring to the farm. They have spent a year in the nursery and we couldn't leave them there any longer. Time is no longer on our sides and these have to be moved to the field to start growing.

Even though it hadn't rained for almost 3 weeks now we still have to transfer these. It is very important to do some things within their important timing and any more delay can cause these not to do well.

The first set of lettuce we have planted produced a whole lot because there was adequate rainfall and the ground was well soaked in water but for these we have to get engines that will be used to pump water into the farm.

Inadequate rainfall has consistently being one of the things we battle with yearly. The rain will just cease during the peak of farming activities leaving farmers stranded.
Our other farm activities have been put on hold but these cannot wait as planting and harvesting has to be done in record time.

Before the transplanting we got the pumping machine to wet the farm about $10 was spent on diesel and right after that the transplanting was done but before we could vacate the farm everywhere become as dry as though it hadn't seen water before

Irrigation farming is usually very expensive and cannot be practiced for most of our other crops hence we have halted so many other plantings that are due for this season.

The piece of land that was prepared for beans to be planted is still pending. It was determined that these lettuce will be planted in record time so that they can be harvested and the land can equally be used for growing rice before the year is over. Due to the fact that we are limited on farmable lands, we try as much as possible to maximize the available land space especially places that are fertile so that we can use them to grow as much crops as possible. The rest of the transplanting work will be done by tomorrow since we couldn't complete the task in one day.

This is what our Saturday was used for and at least thank God it's Sunday, we can get as much rest after the Sunday service this morning.
