Preparation for Rice planting, Lettuce growth progress and More Farm Work.
Hello Hive.

It's a new morning and right about time for morning devotion.
I guess that this is the only thing we do every morning before heading to farm and I get to save some minutes to update us about what to expect for the day and what has transpired for the previous day.
Yesterday we had plans to start the planting of our rice grains but that didn't eventually happened. The labourers invited to join us had a few health challenge and we couldn't ignore the severity. It is a good thing that we all learn to take care of our health and watch out for signs and not only when it gets to an emergency that we voice out.

This is particularly important especially for skilled labourers and those who engage in hard work.
Today we would be resuming the planting of our rice as that is the next important activities.

Corn has been planted like wise groundnuts and potatoes. The time for Rice planting is now and far being spent already, the importance of planting at the right time cannot be overemphasized.

Alot of people are already anxious and waiting for the harvest of this lettuce. On our way back we took a stopby to see how these lettuces are progressing while we equally saw a few communers who came and stood by admiring the lettuce as well.
These are about 3weeks and some days old and we are expected to start harvesting them when they get to six weeks of age.

This is the portion of the lettuces that did grow well of in all the field we have planted them.

There are some other I have shown us in an earlier blog about how we lost a portion of the lettuce farm to extreme dryness and another portion of the farm to overflooding. Lettuce can only survive with adequate water, not excessive water that them make them to rotten out or extreme dryness that can cause them to wither off. The moisture content in the farm wasn't evenly distributed and we didn't watch out for these on time until we lost a portion of the growing veggies.

Though there is a good portion of the veggies in ground our our community friends will have as much of these for their meals before the rest will be taken to the market for sale.
Some list of the vegetables we plant here are
Jute mallow
African and Lagos Spinach species
Water leaves
Okra
Lettuce
Pepper and scotch bonnet.
Moringa
Baobab leaves
Anytime anyone comes around in search of what to use for soup, either one of these will be readily available, so it doesn't get really difficult to cook soups here.
