Happy new week to us all, I hope that we have all had a wonderful weekend and night rest. Sundays are for chilling and although I got some good rest too. I also went about visiting and greeting family and friends.

Today is the start of the week and we have our line up of activities for the week already. For this morning I will be going to purchase the fertilizer and herbicides we will be applying go our rice farms tomorrow and then there is weeding to be done in the sorghum farm and then the line up of activities continues.

If you have been following my blog you will notice that we plant series of crops and often times what we grow during the dry seasons may be different from what you see during the raining seasons.

For the raining seasons like this we mostly grow cereals like corns, rice, sorghum and then add legumes as the beans and groundnuts you see here.

Before now we use to plant tubers like yam but as dad gets older we only planted potatoes which isn't much of a stressful work and doesn't take so much time to produce like yam. Yams use at least 8-9months to grow and produce their foods but potatoes use much of a lesser time than that and in just about 4-5months you will get some potatoes to eat when planted.

As daddy is getting older I can only plant fewer crops that we need essentially for food.
While waiting for some better offer and a some capital to venture into large scale farming we are simply passing the days to grow what can sustain us for now. The ever changing economic conditions and government policies keeps making it difficult to make money or to save up capital for business and most people that have one or two businesses running have gotten that via support from other people or they are lucky to get government jobs from which they use the salaries to finance their businesses.

I'm just glad that during this season our personal farms have been feeding us for as long as I can remember. What we grow during the dry seasons are basically vegetables of various kinds and when the time comes you will see some of them.
Most times I assist vegetables farmers go grow and sell their veggies. Dry season are capital intensive, they normally use engines and piples to pump water to wet the veggies. We only join them to assist with the work but not necessarily own the farms ourselves.
