Importance of gardening and preservation of Agricultural knowledge, varieties of Vegetables we have grown in this season .
Hello Hive
Happy new day to us all, I hope that Monday wasn't too harsh on us. May the new day bring good fortune our way and may we have the very best if what this day can offer.

Gardening is one of the most beautiful activities we can engage in as a diy activities. It saves us from the challenges of having to purchase unhealthy vegetables from the market. I believe that the farmers in other parts of the country are very particulate about quality control and government is engaged in the quality assurance of the food grown and sold at the market hence, hence a lot of people are assured of the vegetables and foods they purchase and eat from the market

For us in this part of the world the government hasn't paid much attention to the quality of food sold at the market and for this reason a lot of farmers find it easy to engage in unhealthy practices while growing their crops.
This is why it is very important for family people to try as much as they can to keep a garden and grow their own vegetables. I know of very few close friends here who engage in this. And for the farmers within my locality the agricultural elites also dim it important to enlighten them about the importance of growing healthy foods citing practical examples within the community.
While I decide to pick some veggies from the farm yesterday I took my sister and niece along with me for the harvest. It was really surprising to see that she hardly recognize some of the vegetables that was planted in the farm.
It is indeed a serious issues that the next generation maynot be aware of alot of agricultural knowledge we are currently engaging in.

My madam couldn't different the difference between a coconut tree or another tree of similar specie.
Most people are attending schools just to study other courses, graduate and get white collar jobs, a lot of people do not engage in farming or know how certain crops looks like in the farm. You see people asking me how the vegetative form of rice plant looks like or certain vegetables they eat, they practically have no idea.
Some of the varieties of vegetables we have planted here are the normal
Lagos spinach and African spinach, jute mallow and fluted Pumpkins.

The white roselle specie here for soup

Moringa is here too

We have the bitter leaves and scent leaves as well and all these are highly beneficial for use in our kitchen. They are all unique in taste and nutritional value. It is important to teach the next generation about a bit of farming so that they do not end up eating only snacks and Junks 😁😂
