Today I wish I could just sit and let the pictures do the talking..
It is time to enjoy some corn and we started that right in the farm.
Am inviting my fellow hivers and corn lovers to this cornfest 😀, there is a whole lot of corn to go round for everybody....

A sad event happened prior to this time, we had some thieves enter and stole a large portion of our corn, I complained bitterly to @peterale about this.
Hardship is looming around this place and poverty is striking deep but regardless of all these people are becoming too lazy to work for their daily bread.

Everyone considers farming to be a dirty job, they only want to eat but not get their hands dirty in the mud, Hence they have enter our farms at dawn or twilight to harvest our corns, once we have caught them and reported to police but they were bailed and no compensation given.

Everyone goes to harvest even our little ones and right from the farms we begin the festival of roasting and eating corns.

She is my own @ifarmgirl, the real farmer here 😀, I don't know if @ifarmgirl actually goes to farm as her name implies 😂😂

We are having some quality harvest here and soon we will sundry these and prepare to start eating different delicacies made with corn.

These were grown without fertilizers, although adding a little fertilizer will make these corns grow bigger, we are trying to avoid chemicals in our food these days.

What do you do when you see a maize comb like this

IMG_20220809_100508_114.jpg

You planted two grains of corn and received nothing in return, probably a shit coin investment 😂😂😂...

Thanks to @felixxx for this initiative, it was indeed worth it following the growth and development of my corn this year.
Appreciation also goes to @balte, @schlees for their support and interest in Agriculture.

Harvest time is a time to be happy, a time of wonder the mystery behind planting a grain of corn before 3 months you have plenty. Your farm did well.

This issue of theft is everywhere, there is hardship but most people are adamant about hard work.

Is the roasted corn for me?
Thanks for sharing

I am very sorry for this. Some people are really just lazy and prefer to steal than ask.

The roasted corn makes me want to eat some. That goes great with a home brewed coffee. 😍

Farmers in our area are the ones that are mostly well off. A decent number of them have the most houses, cars and land areas. I bet @ifarmgirl is one of them. I believe she has the experience in farming but most of her daily life must be monitoring the people working in their farm. 😊

😆😆😄...

Corn and coffee, what a great combination 😀.
Farmers here are the poorest, no one regards them even though they put food on our table..
They grow these food with hard labour and local tools only to be bought cheaply by the the rich in society.
Our politicians are the richest, embezzling funds everywhere..

I hope there will be a turnaround for farmers soon.

I just felt that @ifarmgirl could be a farmer judging from her name... But whatever role she plays in the farm is surely a good one..

All we want is to grow healthy food for everyone...

That is very sad. They should be developing irrigations for your farms, creating laws protecting the rights of the farmers and making market to farm roads.
I've heard of this problems in your country and I can only hope the best for the common people.

Cheer up and keep on surviving. 😊

Those are good points we should adopt.

Thanks for the concern, we will sure survive it.
Hive has been helpful too...

Seriously, it has to do with my past experience and views in life. It's kind of a long story so I might make a post about it in the near future. 😊

Thieves are smart noh, they are the first to reap what they didn't sow😂

I believe she has the experience in farming

You bet :) I grew up in a farming town so you can imagine my expertise🤣

but most of her daily life must be monitoring the people working in their farm.

People would be unhappy if you visit them daily, it would look like you don't trust them😁 Once a week would be okay hehe :)

I was right.
I wonder where your farms are located.
I might have been seeing or passing on one of them. 😊

And by the way, I hope you are not one of those owners I heard of that offers 1 dollar a day to their workers. 😁

Haha, I wish 😂 Magdilang anghel ka sana😉

I don't think anyone here offers dollar a day. No one would come and you will be the talk of the town if you do that, lol! The cheapest here in our place is $8 (Php 400) for half a day's work (harvesting) and we feed them breakfast and lunch with snacks too. You also have to pick them up in the morning and drop them home after work😁

I wonder if you also heard that there are groups of laborers from other places that when you hire one, you have to hire the whole group 😂

I don't think anyone here offers dollar a day.

I've heard it is being offered to non-local workers. And there was this time it was offered to us by a person who talked to when we hitched a ride. This happened years ago though.

The cheapest here in our place is $4 (Php 400) for half a day's work (harvesting) and we feed them breakfast and lunch with snacks too. You also have to pick them up in the morning and drop them home after work

That's already a very competitive pay. It is above the minimum wage. Considering that you also provide them their meals and snacks. I bet you also provide them the chemicals (e.g. alcohols) they need for their after work chemistry session? 😊

I wonder if you also heard that there are groups of laborers from other places that when you hire one, you have to hire the whole group

I first heard this from you. I think this is the reason why I see some trucks with a group of people from the lowlands being transported back when I was staying up in the mountains?

Mali pa pala nasulat ko, $8 dapat yon kasi 400, lol! Even if it was 5 years ago, dollar a day was not acceptable here. Non locals are even more costly kasi 500 ang gusto nila 😂

And yep, you know it well, you have to buy them booze too.

I think this is the reason why I see some trucks with a group of people from the lowlands being transported back

Aah, at least you've seen them :)

LOL. The mountain has been my playground since I was a kid with the scorching sun over our head. I may live in the city now but I am built much sturdier than the average mountain man. 😁

See a lot of roasted corn, 🌽 I wish me self can join, bring coconut make we feast. But that's a lot of corn, I take it the harvest this year is better? Anyways, if you didn't want to use inorganic fertilizer, why not use the organic one? Or no accessibility?

Harvest is pretty good thanks.

For the organic fertilizer inhave B eh planning on meeting @peterale for his poultry droppings , soon the organic fertilizers will be more accessible, this land has been left to fallow for a while that's why harvest is good.
Thanks for stoping by.

Farming is life no doubt and it's a good thing when you plant, then harvest. That's reaping the fruit of your labour, that is what harvest brings. Seeing happiness on the faces on those in pictures speak volume. Enjoy dear!🥂

Wow! Those are amazing harvests! Now, I am craving for maize! Could you please send me some? Lol! Would be nice to have them buttered, yum!

Thank you for the mention :) It's been a while since I've been to the farms. Fortunately, the boys are good at what they do so the husband just visit them now and then to deliver needed supplies. Our town is in the highlands and majority of the crops here are vegetables. Corns are mostly grown by those in the lowlands where rice fields are also found :)

Wow, that's good to know.
You must have abundant supplies of vegetables.. I love to eat different kind of green leaves.
The only vegetables I grow here is the pumpkin and some Jute mallow in our garden

Not much during these days. We only consume what we grow in our little garden in the yard. The veggies in the farms are for the market :)

It's still good that you can grow pumpkin and jute. I never had them in our backyard but I'm thinking about growing zucchini :)
