This is the highlights of yesterday activities in the farm. We went transplanting rice and I can tell you that the work isn't getting anymore interesting.

Flood has flushed away a portion of the field we have recently transplanted causing a major setback with our work. It is totally difficult to predict the rains in this seasons, when it comes around it's usually very heavy and consider these fragile rice seedlings transplanted in the farms, whenever the rains gets too heavy the seedlings are flushed away. There is usually very heavy run water that flows across every field

Before now we usually plant/transplant our rice seedlings before the months of August, those where the times when the rains were very much predictable.
The rice was transplanting is nursed in the month of June and then transplanted in the month of July.

The inconsistency in downpour is causing us a lot of challenge with our farming exercise. For this year I had to plant the nursery rice in the month of July and this is the reason we are still transplanting rice. We still have a plot of land to cover with the transplanting and that will take like additional one week

Another thing that could have helped to speed up my work here is if I could hire some labourers go assist with the transplanting but the demand to hire a labour here is usually very high. The laborers demand for too much money and do not always do the job well.

They take about $20 to transplant a plot of rice field, if we are to pay then these amount and still spend another $35 on fertilizers excluding the expenses for chemicals and the land that was leases to us, we will end up spending so much money to growing rice.

September is usually the pick of rainfall and by now we are trying all we can as fast as possible to get the seedlings settled in the field.

The last batch of our transplanting exercise should end this week but with flood flushing away the seedlings each time I'm not even sure of when this will be concluded.

It is not easy to divert the direction of flood water and the way out for this is just complicated.
