A good day to Harvest Some corn, multitasking our farm activities to eliminate any consequences of delayed harvest.

Hello Hive

A beautiful new morning to us all, hope we were able to get as much rest as possible. We had another round of downpour last night and I was seriously worried for the rice we are transplanting.

It's a good thing to transplant rice in the swamp but when the rains get very much heavy heavy during this seasons we can get heavy flooding that will flush any transplanted seedlings that is yet to get established in the field.

You can see how that the fields are filled with water already, with heavy flooding all the transplanted seedlings here can equally gets flushed away. Everything has to just be in moderation. In the mist of all of these overturn we still try as much as we can to grow the food we eat. I really can't wait to get to the farm this morning and I'm seriously hoping that the heavy downpour hasn't affected anything in the farm.

Yesterday we decided to harvest some corn right after working in the rice fields to take home with us. The corns are ready for harvest now and since the rains have returned it's advisable to pick them up now before they start germaninating.

There are consequences to delayed harvest. The corns even on their stalks can begin to germinate if they get heavily soaked with rain water and by the time one will decide to come for harvest the grains will have germinated.

During this time of the year there is usually a commotion of activities for us. One farm needs weeding, another needs planting and yet another might need harvesting, this is all due to the fact that we plant varieties of crops. When this happens we often go from one farm to the other doing the importannt tasks for and most times a bit of everything.

Now instead of engaging in only the transplanting of rice for the whole day, we did a little of that and also decided to harvest some corn go carry back home with us. Harvesting corn doesn't take much time and we can always take a little of it with us back home daily.

This way the corn doesn't gets bad while waiting to be harvested and also the rice transplanting work doesn't get halted as well.
