A Look Into Sumeru's Stunning Desert || Genshin Impact 🏜️

The new desert in the game Genshin Impact has been out for quite a bit, however I'm just starting to explore it now. The desert was one of the most highly anticipated things in 3.1 update. I thought that it would be nice to take some pictures with my characters as I explore for you guys! I will also sharing my thoughts about it.

The Liyue archon Zhongli is here looking so elegant in this photo as he admires the view πŸ‘Œ (But for real though, the rock structures look so cool! The colours and texture suits very well.)

Shenhe is chilling on this bridge by a village in the Sumeru desert. The palm trees really give this place an extra desert oasis vibe. It also gives the area a pop of colour. I really like it.

Kazuha is here just smelling a leaf in these underground tunnels haha. The caves look super spooky and give a mysterious kind of feeling to it. You can see the cacti plants to the right, a very good choice for a desert indeed.

The most magnificent Yae Miko with the triangle pyramid in the back 😍 The bright orange aura looks so intriguing! I haven't done much of the storyline so I'm not sure what's up with it, but excited to find out later on!

The Inazuma archon Baal is here to enjoy the desert as well. You can see the pyramid a bit closer at the back. As I was exploring the area I was trying to unlock all the statues. (That red line you can see far away.) These and waypoints are really helpful to unlock straight away, because you can teleport to them instead of walking around everywhere which would take ages. Especially in an area as big as Sumeru.

Behind Zhongli there's this sandstorm, thought it was cool that Genshin Impact decided to add these around the desert area. They're adding all these desert like elements to pull the entire area together.

Behind Shenhe are amazing structures. The patterns look beautiful. They may be related to a quest or something. I forgot to mention that your character puts temporary footprints on the sand when they walk, as well as a dust particles which is a great small detail they added.

Here are some more rock structures behind Kazuha. They really give this desert area some volume to keep it from being too flat. (However, can be a pain to climb up haha.)

I took this photo of Yae Miko when it was sunset and the pink looks so stunning in the desert! Another cool small detail they added is the usual wind currents have been changed to a sand like colour. As you can see next to Yae (to the right.) These wind currents are useful for exploration so your character can for example, fly up high to a certain area.

Lots of statues were in this area. It gave me an Egyptian mythology kind of vibe. (Lots of them looked like the Ra god.) Which is perfect for a desert type area and Sumeru as well, because it's meant to be based on Middle Eastern and South Asian culture.

🏝️ ~ My Final Thoughts ~ 🏝️

I think Genshin created this desert really well! A desert can easily be made "boring" as there's limited colour choices and just sand for miles, however they prevented this by adding beautiful elements like palm trees, structures, sandstorms, small details, etc to keep it looking fun and interesting. Very pretty overall. I was so excited for the desert the most when Sumeru was first announced because it's a super unique area we haven't seen in Genshin Impact before, and they did not disappoint! I can't wait to start the desert quests once I'm up to it... But that may take ages πŸ˜† So for now I may just have to settle with treasure chest hunting and exploration.

I agree about that design. Designing a desert is really hard due to everything. You can't fill the field with random things.

It still amazes me how a free game has this quality, it must be made by a government or something

The desert is a very interesting area, I love the Pyramid themes and having the invisible paths and walls that reveal themselves when you get close is great :D
