Hello dear friends of the Motherhood community, I greet you as always with great affection, wishing you a successful day. In this post I will be telling you about my dad and his strange choice of lullabies.

My dad has always been very loving and funny, since I was little I always remember him playing with me and my sisters, constantly looking for ways to make us laugh. Since we were little my father would sing us songs to sleep or in moments of relaxation.

Now that I am older I remember those songs and it seems strange to me my father's choice, since those songs are far from being children's songs or lullabies, but they keep a very special meaning and memory. I will show you what they are:

The first song is the only children's song, it's called "Vamos a contar mentiras" (Let's tell lies), it's not one of the songs that we commonly hear at children's parties or that they teach us in school, or at least not in my time. This one was taught to me by my dad, and literally its lyrics are about lies.

This song was engraved in my mind because it made my imagination fly and recreate fictitious and unreal scenarios, like seeing hares running in the sea and sardines running through the bush, or maybe imagining a pear tree that gives apples instead of pears. Thinking about all these lies makes me laugh, since I was a little girl when I heard her say that my father is a liar.

Hoy esa canción me recuerda a mi padre.

The following song is not a children's song at all, it is called "Mi viejo" by the singer Piero. When I was very little I did not understand the beautiful lyrics of this song, I only thought that my dad sang it to us because it had a soft rhythm, however, on more than one occasion I saw my father sing this song with tears in his eyes, the reason is that it reminded him of my grandfather. Today this song reminds me of my father.

This song is called "Llegando, llegaste" by Piero, it was also sung by my father, what I remember most about this song is the whistle at the beginning of the song and finally a very sad song called "El Ermitaño", this song taught me to feel empathy from a very young age, because thinking about the situation that the man in the story of this song was going through made me feel very sad and I wanted to help him.

It also made me think about the situation that many people living in the countryside where services are scarce could be going through. It is a sad story told in this song that I remember fondly thanks to my dad.

And these were some of the strange and beautiful songs that my dad sang to us and taught us since we were little. I think his goal was to leave as a legacy those songs of his time that maybe many of you also remember. For me they were the best songs.

Your memories of your Dad are so sweet. I can't play the videos now because of my weak internet connection but based on your descriptions of the songs, they are really very memorable.
