NEWBIES INITIATIVE TASK - WHY AND HOW ON HIVE

As part of the newbies initiative, I did my first task few weeks ago, this task was about our goals for the next 3 months.

Few days ago, a meeting was held on the discord server group. I can only express my heartfelt regret for missing the meeting. Of course it isn't if it slipped my mind or if I didn't want to attend but my poor network coverage prevented me from doing so... but I still need to thank @starstrings01, for screen recoding the discussion for someone like me who wanted to attend but couldn't due to technical difficulties.

In addition, I'd want to thank @starstrings01, @aliento and @projectmamabgd as well as all the brains behind this initiative, both those I mentioned and others I didn't.

I've been going through some stuff for the past few days; I'm not sure if it's stress or fever; first, the network in my region was terrible (which is why I missed the meeting); then, two days ago, my brother misplaced my sim card (A story for another day). All of this made me feel weak and exhausted.
Thank God for @josediccus, he was there for me and told me to relax and rest as much as possible. My mother also got me some malaria medication, which I took.

I'm currently sharing data from my brother's phone via WiFi. So far, I've only had access to the Internet when my brother is present; I intend to buy a new sim tomorrow or retrieve my old line.

Returning to the task at hand, I downloaded and watched the video; I learnt a lot from it, and using the task instructions, I will provide some answers to the questions asked.

WHY MUST YOU AVOID PLAGIARISM?

Before I go into the definition of Plagiarism, I would like to emphasize on the Hive platform itself.

Hive is a decentralized social media just as we have Facebook, Twitter and so on, the difference is that Hive is built on the blockchain hence it has all the characters of a blockchain, one of the characters is that it's decentralized that is no one can control it, users has control over their accounts unlike Facebook that can ban or remove your account if you don't follow their terms and conditions.

Hive is known for it great uniqueness, proof of brain, that's users need to publish original contents failure to do so will see you getting blacklisted which is very bad.

Now to Plagiarism, according to Wikipedia Plagiarism is when someone uses another author's language, contents, thoughts, ideas, or expressions as their own. This can be any type of information, including images, videos, and even audio. This is a really awful thing to do, and it's against the Hive platform's rules. Apart from that, plagiarism is a negative act that will result in serious penalties, including the possibility of imprisonment for the culprit.

You can write about a variety of topics or create other types of content on the Hive platform, including food, money, science and technology, travel blogs, and so on. Simply choose your areas of strength and begin producing high-quality, original content.

HOW DO YOU SOURCE A TEXT OR IMAGE AND WHY DO YOU HAVE TO SOURCE TEXTS AND IMAGES THAT ARE NOT YOURS?

We sometimes download images from the internet, or in the case of a financial quotation or a motivational statement, we can get them from the internet, but it is strongly recommended that we source and give credit the original owner.

• How to source Image

When creating content, images are incredibly significant because they represent the content's idea. For example, if you're writing a food blog post, you should choose a food-related photograph.

This image can be downloaded on the internet provided it's a free image, which means the owner has given permission for it to be used for free. Website like Freepik, Pixabay are examples of website that offered users free images.

Even with that it's still necessary you source the image. There is a markdown used to do this..

• How to source Text

There are various quotes that can be borrowed for the internet to strengthen ideas on contents, especially those that are related to science or finance. This quote must be sourced, which means that credit must be given to the original author of the quote or text.

There are no special or unique markdown style for sourcing a text or sentence, you only need to insert sign > at the beginning of the text or sentence.

For instance, I want to source this popular qoute. "I'm born to be a hero"

WHY SHOULD YOU NOT TAG NUMEROUS PEOPLE ON YOUR POST?

Is it really required to tag? Is there a bonus upvote for tagging?

To answer the first question, I don't believe tagging is necessary unless the user specifically requests it. For example, if someone organized a contest, the person may suggest that you tag him or her so that he or she may readily see your contribution.

The answer to the second question is No; in fact, you may be downvoted for excessive tagging.

WHY SHOULD YOU NOT PUBLISH SAME ARTICLES NUMEROUS TIMES

Some people, in my opinion, believe that their contents did not reach the desired number of readers, so they republish the same article; others lack motivation to write, so they republish the article. On the Hive Platform, this is considered spamming, and it may result in your account being downvoted.

WHAT IS THE ACCEPTABLE AMOUNT OF ARTICLES YOU CAN PUBLISH PER DAY?

It was stated in the video that we can post up to four articles each day, however this is not recommended. I had intended to publish at least two articles per day, but owing to my network and various problems, I was only able to publish once per day or after two days.

WHAT IS THE IMPORTANCE OF ENGAGEMENT?

On the Hive platform, engagement is crucial; it's like creating relationships with diverse people, regardless of their specializations. @starstrings01 and @josediscuss both mentioned me how much engagement and interaction with others on the platform helped them achieve their goals. Engagement is more than just reblogging posts or following the discussion on a discord channel; it's a lot more. Upvoting, leaving great comments, and encouraging others to comment are all part of engagement; in fact, commenting is the actual engagement for me. Users, particularly whales, value significant comments on their posts, and you know what it implies if a whale values your comments 😉.

WHAT OTHER POINTS DID YOU LEARN FROM THE VIDEO?

Many points, but due to time constraints, I'd like to focus on one major point Tag.
I didn't realize the importance of tags until I watched this video; what I usually do is copy someone else's tag and use it as my own, not realizing that tags are much more than that.

Tags are a quick link to your contents; therefore, the type of content you are creating must match the tag. For example, if you want to post a content about finance, you must use the leofinance tag; similarly, if you want to post a content about food, you must use the foodies tag.

Conclusion

The only issues I'm currently dealing with are the network service and electricity power in my area, both of which are extremely poor. I've tried different sim cards and the problem persists. I'm looking at getting a new phone as soon as possible.
