5 Minute Freewrite: Wednesday - Prompt: Red Fox

avatar

I've done many short freewrites in my life, as it was one thing they had us do in college. Working in any kind of media, it was important to be able to write quick and make sure to cover all important points. So here's my 5 minute freewrite. (yes, I am starting now)

My own special encounter with a red fox

A few weeks after we moved to Ireland, I was going to a pub for a poker night. My friend was supposed to be there, but because she hadn't arrived yet, I got myself a coffee.

However, she didn't show up just yet, and I felt a little uncomfortable just sitting there with one coffee on my own, so I decided to take a little walk outside.

I walked out the door, around the corner, and that's when I noticed this big red fox just crossing the road.
I stood as still as possible.
He saw me, and at first he made attempts to run, but then he must have known I wasn't going to hurt him and he stopped.

For a long moment, it must have been almost a minute, we just stared at each other. Both curious about the other.
It was quite a spiritual moment, or at least that's what it felt like. He was so beautiful! Either way, I saw it as a very special, beautiful moment, not easily forgotten.

Thank you for the reminder @mariannewest!

That was a much more memorable moment than sitting there alone :)

What a great story, by the way ❤️ It's always wise here to cite the source of all images, even your own :)

I know! I usually do! With it being a freewrite and all, I tried to cram things in in 5 minutes and must have forgotten. But thanks for the reminder, and thanks for the kind words. :)

I find it best to use the 5 minutes to write. Then read it afterwards and edit :) You can even add to it at that point 🙌

Thanks for that Pizza. I love some good pizza! :)
But I don't agree with the editing after writing. The whole concept of a freewrite is no editing after. In my opinion, a 5 minute freewrite is just that. You can edit during those 5 minutes, but not after. But of course, to each their own. 😁

Technically adding sources and even formatting wouldn't be "cheating" :) They aren't actually part of the story, just supplements. Was it your own picture, by the way?
