Umbrella Photoshoot for Stock Images

My daughter, @izzydawn, likes her photography, so when we were struggling to find quite the right image to represent the letter "U" I asked if she would like to help me out with an umbrella photo shoot.

We brainstormed a few ideas and started out with some images at night under the streetlight. Unfortunately, they came out grainy. We could have done with doing long exposure, but it was cold and fairly windy, so the patience wasn't there to stand around for that length of time and try to get enough stillness between the gusts.

Other ideas were ones taken against the sky, but we weren't liking them.

Izzy wanted to use me as a model, not just take photos of the umbrella and had ideas to have me walking through a nearby tunnel. I thought she meant in front of the entrance, but she just forgot that it was too low to walk through standing upright, never mind with an umbrella. However, the location around was pretty, so we got some shots in there.

We've dropped the ones with lens flare and some of the ones she wanted of her old mum for her own memories, so I hope you like what's left. You can credit either @izzydawn or @minismallholding, if you want to use the images on Hive.

For those interested these images were taken on a Nikon D3400 and some editing was done in Lightroom. I'd tell you about the lenses used, but I think I'm already annoying my daughter with these questions, when she'd rather not be distracted from eating and gaming...

...also if you're wondering why she's not a beneficiary on this post, she prefers her payment in snacks.

Lol on the payment via snacks. That's good enough I see. 😄

Loving all the greens I see. <3

Umbrellas have many functions, rainy season, summer, always use an umbrella, without an umbrella we feel the rain and heat!

I love that you shared that photo shoot with your daughter. My daughter just got married and is now on her honeymoon. The second she got to her destination, she called me, yep, me her mom. Not her friends, me. I was thrilled to hear the joy and love she was feeling.
Daughters are the best friends we can ask for, am I right ?
Great umbrella!

Aww, bless. You sound really close. I know my older daughter wouldn't have done that. When she's happy and excited she generally forgets about anything outside her immediate vicinity. I mostly only get a call from her if she's lonely. She's so like her father. 😆

My youngest (the one I did the photoshoot with) and I have more in common and similar temperaments, so we just work together well and, yes, I think she would be that friend you mention. I often get calls from her when we are apart even briefly.

Hello again. So you have two daughters, I am sure the dynamics are different, Erica has three older brothers, so very often she and I had to join forces against all that testosterone. 😁
Daughters are wonderful friends once they grow up, but all have their own unique personalities, which is why we love them so much.

she and I had to join forces against all that testosterone.

I can imagine! Hubby didn't have an ally in the oestrogen and neither did my dad. Two girls for both. 😆 My sister-in-law has two boys, so she needs a female ally.

Wow, the snaps of the umbrella are superb. Simple but beautiful.

A daughter that prefers payment in snacks is cute (^_^)

Thank you, she's getting quite good with her camera. She should get it out more, though.

She's definitely her father's daughter when it comes to food! 😆

You're welcome (^_^)

Yes, she should get out more, but I can see now that she has amazing camera skills.

She's definitely her father's daughter when it comes to food! 😆

That's adorable. Imagine both of them eating their favorite foods heartily while you are watching, priceless...

These turned out well! She did a really good job on the photos. I see the tunnel far back in one of the photos, cool she captured that in the background.

Oh gosh the snack payment is hilarious but I don’t blame her. I love a good snack myself. 😁

So glad the “U” image has been taken care of now ~

I didn't realise we'd caught the tunnel in the end. It actually looks quite nice from a distance. It's distinctly unattractive close up. 😆
