Even in England I think the most jackets I ever had was two, maybe three. Except for that time my grandmother kept buying me them from the charity shops and they were to small for me. I was in desperate need of a new coat and could barely squeeze any of them over my jumpers. I think only one actually fit me at that point and I hated it having to go in the wash.
Once you get used to South Australia, a winter jacket is still a must. Even 4°C feels icy, because the climates is so dry here. Having said that, some Aussies are so conditioned to aircon they wear shorts all year round.

4°C is icy. We have that here now (or something around 0°C) and although I think that's not a proper winter degree, it's cold because that's what I've gotten used to.
Shorts!? All year round?! No fun in that because of the lack of different outfit options! :D
