Garden Journal Bi-weekly Newsletter 11th December 2022

With winter well and truly settled in over most of the northern hemisphere, this week's gardening seems mostly to be coming from South East Asia. That's got to be one of the best things about the tropics, the growing never stops.

I had to share @jenthoughts' post on her hanging vegetable garden. She's making the most of every container she can get to get those veggies growing this season and you can even learn how she does upside-down plants.

The title of the post says they are harvesting hydroponic kangkung, but @rebolegi actually takes us through the whole growing process and tells us a bit about its importance in South East Asia.

Which reminds me, I was reading a post earlier this week from @allani545 on how the aquaponics build in the backyard is going. Most aquaponics I've encountered until now use fish for the animal side of things, but Allani plans to use crayfish, so is adding something a bit special to their tank.

@nara61 is taking her curcuma (turmeric) from the garden to the kitchen. Really what I love so much about this post is seeing all the beautiful photos, which tell a story even without the words.

This week beneficiaries go to @allani545 and rebolegi.

Hanging vegetables, that sounds interesting to try, before I had also grown kale but I failed, probably because I didn't know the hydroponic procedures,

Kale can grow pretty big. I wonder if it suits small pots. You'll have to let me know if you manage to get things growing this way.
