MY FINAL PAPER DAY AND PLEASURE PARK EXPERIENCE

Hello Everyone, trust you all are doing good, so today I want to share with y’all my final paper day and Pleasure park experience. We had just finished writing our final papers in fulfillment for the award of bachelor of petroleum engineering degree, a great moment which we all have been anticipating since we got admitted into the higher institution, a great citadel of learning.

Prior to the start of our final year examinations, we were planning on how to make our final days memorable, so we came up with different plans, the first one which was to go to a night club to celebrate after our last paper which was on a Friday then the second plan was to go to an amusement park the following week to chill and have fun with each other, you know as graduating students, that will be our last period bonding together as many of us will be relocating back to our respective bases after that.

Obviously we’ve started missing each already and were thinking about the life ahead of us. Many of us knew that there’s a possibility that we will never see each other again because there is nothing that will have to bring us together, even a reunion later in time will not do that because it’s not everyone that will attend.

Anyways, we finally agreed on the both plans and started planning ahead, we set out a budget for both outings, so we had to contribute money each in order to meet our budget. We finally reached our budget before our last paper, it was a great feeling because almost everyone contributed to that as the day for our last paper was fast approaching.

The final paper day came, and you could see the joy and happiness on everyone’s face, it was like a dream come true for all of us, graduating from the university after 6 years for a 5 year course, covid-19 was actually the set back because we didn’t go to school for the whole year of 2020, so we couldn’t contain the joy we had that day.

We wrote the last paper in smiles and happiness, we were so full of joy when we finished writing the examination. Getting out of the examination hall and stepping out to the department quadrangle, a DJ, photographers, friends and well-wishers from other departments were already outside waiting for us, it was joy, and they really made our day 🥺.

The DJ played many songs ranging from hip hop, blues, r n b to afrobeats, and we danced to them all while pouring each other water, wines and drinks which we see as normal in this part of the world, we do these things to people who are celebrating about something big, be it a birthday or a graduation, it’s awesome and fun actually.

The whole department celebrations ended in the evening, and we had to go to our respective residences to have a rest and get ready for clubbing in the night. We went to the club later in the night, and it was fun.
The atmosphere was awesome, the dancers, the music, the colorful lights, the grinding, the drinks and everything, it was fun and memorable. We had to go back home around 2 AM because we were all exhausted at that moment meanwhile we all boasted before the party that we will party all night till dawn only to go home at 2 AM, jokes on us.

So we got home and started making arrangements for the amusement park outing. Monday came and we all set out to the venue which would be Pleasure Park located at the heart of the garden city of Port Harcourt, a beautiful city which happens to be the capital city of Rivers state, Nigeria.

We got to the park and started deliberating on the activities to do. The park is a big one and it has many outdoor and indoor activities ranging from paintball, boat cruise, cinema movies, climbing towers, play ground, restaurants and many more.

We ate to our satisfaction to get ready for the activities. When we were through with loading our stomach with food, we had rested for a couple of minutes before we set out for a boat cruise, which would be our first activity of the day. The boat cruise was fun and that would actually be my first time on a boat.

I wasn’t scared of the water though, I was just scared of my phone falling inside the water. The boat could only take five persons at a time where two people will deal with pedaling the boat in order to move. Getting ourselves into the boat was such a task because we had to maintain balance while entering inside it, some people fell down while at that, it was such a funny sight.

The boat cruise was crazy I kid you not, we were racing on the water and colliding with each others boats. It was all fun till our time duration for the cruise elapsed, so we got off and went to the playground to play and bond. We got grilled fish and palm wine there to devour after playing.

We played like kids, swing rode, then rope rolling and a small merry go round climbing. We took turns in riding the swings and using every play equipments there. We also arranged competitions among ourselves at the playground and had many winners from the competitions.

We were playing for hours without taking note of the time till one person checked what the time was and shouted, so we had to go eat our grilled fish and washed it down with a very sweet fresh palm wine before we started going back to our respective homes.

We couldn’t do all the activities we planned to do as time was already against us, the feeling was dope and we all enjoyed the experience we had there. The park was well equipped and had a very nice atmosphere for enjoyment.

The experience was fun and memorable, we were able to achieve our aim, it was a sad and happy moment, I didn’t want the day to end I swear but there was nothing we could do, it was time to face reality and we had to embrace it and live with it.
