Tim Scored Some Points

1.jpg

The freezing temperatures in Leicester City, East Midlands, compared to the mild weather down south in Devon, UK, have been a stark difference, and it makes the weather in Devon feel tropical.

So, yesterday, when I arrived at Leicester town centre, frostbitten, I decided to sit in at Tim Hortons for a coffee and a snack to warm up and take the edge off.

This was my first time visiting this Canadian multinational coffeehouse and restaurant chain. The displays on the menu board were impressive, so I enquired if the presentation would be as beautifully served in the glass as the picture. However, the cashier said that, with the new regulations, they only serve in paper cups.
Fair enough, I thought, and I opted for a gingerbread latte.

2.jpg

This was nicely served with Ginger Syrup, Lotus Crumb, Whipped Cream, and Maple Carmel Sauce, as seen here.

3.jpg

I wasn't ravenous, so I accompanied my latte with a Honey Cruller Donut, a light, fluffy pastry, and both were tasty and not overly sweet.

This wasn't an absurdly expensive treat, as it only set me back £6.40. However, the small cup size was decent, plus all the added condiments made me think it was good value for money. Most of all, it tasted good and gave me the desired comfort.

The doughnut was lovely too, with a nice crunch to the bite, which was more exciting than a plain doughnut.

Tim scored some points, beyond any doubt.

"I always feel like a company ambassador, holding a product and smiling. However, that's not the case. I was simply smitten with Tim, and I would return."

Decor and seating

16.jpg

There was nothing elaborate or outrageously compelling, but the wall paintings all depicted aspects of coffee, from cultivating, harvesting, and preparation, which enhanced the ambience.

1.jpg

The seats were comfortable, with arrangements of tables for 2 to larger tables for 4 people, all spacious, with additional dining on an upper floor.

I liked that the tables were nicely spaced to afford customers some privacy, and the lighting seemed just right, despite it being a bitter-cold and frosty day.

15.jpg

Why did I choose Tim?

Leicester is one of the most multi-cultured and vibrant cities in the UK, with a myriad of dining outlets of various cuisines. It's also a university town with a youthful population that's home to hundreds of international students. However, I decided Tim Horton has a nice edge since it's right next to the Clock Tower in the city centre, and from the outside looking in, there was a light and inviting atmosphere.

While dining, two patrolling police officers popped in to inquire if there was any evident trouble. There's nothing worse than being in the wrong place at the wrong time, so, I was pleased to hear the staff say that there were some well-behaved youngsters on the upper floor.

Untitled design-149.jpg

Of course, Christmas is in the air, with decorations that blend nicely with the red and white logo of Tim Hortons.

Food Selection

14.jpg

There was an assortment of miniature doughnuts with the option of mixing, which is always great with coffee and would be ideal if dining with friends.

2.jpg

The burgers on display were tempting, but I resisted them only because all I needed was a light, fresh snack that was reasonably priced.

Overall, this was a positive experience at Tim Hortons in Leicester City. Is there a favourite item from Tim Hortons that you'd recommend, in a heartbeat, for my next visit? Cos, I'll pop by Tim soon again.

Thanks for stopping by, Peeps!

Have a Coffee-Licious Day ☕️

Oooh, Gingerbread Latte, Fancy!
Never heard of or had that one! We don't get too fancy options here, but this intrigues me and makes my to try list when I visit UK. I love the flavour of ginger!

One of the reasons why I chose this drink was because it was not chocolate-based like the other festive options available. I was delighted and I would try it again. I'm a fan of ginger too, and honey makes everything go down smoothly 😋

What? They can't give you a glass for your indoor stay now?

Also, I've been to Timmy's in a few different countries. It varies on location for sure, but my experience has generally been quite good!

No, it's a shame! I figure management probably finds it more economical to continue using disposables.🤷‍♀

😁 I only learned about Tim Horton from posts to the community, cos I never tried it all the years that I lived in Leicester... but yes, I can imagine that their products differ across countries. If I go to Canada, I'll be sure to try it there:)))

No, I got the impression that they serve it all year round. Maybe they have a rotation of drinks, though:)

Hello dear friend @millycf1976 good morning
Without a doubt, a coffee with milk is the ideal drink to warm the body when you are in a city below zero.
I have never tried coffee with milk with ginger sauce, but it sounds tempting, ginger has a slight lemon flavor, so this combination could be great
What a pleasant and great experience that everything was satisfactory.
I appreciate that you let us know about this experience in this beautiful place.
Have a great day

Hello @jlufer

Ginger has a slight lemon flavor

Now that you mention it, yes, I agree 😋
It was my first time trying that combination, and it was very comforting and the perfect choice for the miserable day.

Have a lovely day or night where you are:)))

Yes, I know what that's like, here in my country in the southern area (Ushuaia) where my son lives, the climate is just as hostile.

Wow Tim Hortons made it across the pond. Burgers!?! That's so funny. They don't have them on the menu here in Canada. A Honey cruller is my go to choice as well. Nice one. 👍

Funny enough, despite the heavy heavy marketing about being Canadian, the company isn't really Canadian anymore and hasn't been since like the 70s or something. It's changed hands a few times in the past and is currently owned by a company based in the US and Brazil.

Hehe! I asked the cashier and she told me it was a Canadian company and then Wiki confirmed it 😅.
Yes, I think they have expanded to many regions, and it's strange that they serve burgers here in the UK and not in Canada.

The Honey cruller is like nothing I had before, and I was happy with my choice.

I bet Canadians still feel proud of the chain:)))

Tim Hortons has its own lingo too but I'm not sure if it would apply in Europe and other countries.

If you order a "regular coffee" you get coffee with 1 cream and 1 sugar. "Double double" you get 2 cream and 2 sugar." A triple triple is obviously 3 and 3 of those things but only kids and weirdos order that. It's not even coffee at that point. Lol

😆 It gets more interesting, but I don't think it would catch on here 😁

Exactly 😅

Yeah, probably not. Do you do cream in coffee in the UK?

0

Yes, the Brits tend to do cream... BUT! In homes, it's mainly Instant Coffee... so if you go to someone's house and they say "Would you like coffee or tea?" Always say tea.
I've not had this much tea in ages as I've had for the last 2 weeks. My mum-in-law says I'm not fully British yet, cos I don't drink enough tea. 😳

Haha thats funny 😂
Tea isn't the same as coffee for me

0

No, it's not the same. Traditional English drink a cup of tea first thing in the morning, and then she says 11:00 is coffee time 😂... and throughout the day she asks if I would like a cup of tea... it's probably done me some good to have milk in my diet.
When she makes tea, she sips it slowly even when it goes cold. I cannot think of a worse punishment 😂
My cup of tea is half empty? or half full? when she takes her first sip... and I'm done by her third sip 🤣

Oh you got my attention with the Gingerbread Latte 😋 My mother usually makes a big tin full of gingerbread men (they don't last long around the house, lol) . You sparked my thoughts as I haven't seen them yet. Well I usually don't receive them until mid December. Yes, gingerbread anything is my favorite holiday treat. I'll certainly be looking for something coffee related to this now, haha.

Too bad no Tim Hortons here. Love the atmosphere there and the spaced out seating for privacy. The seating definitely speaks, " Come here and sit for awhile." Nice display cases too, it may take awhile to decide what to get, hehe.

No Tim's there?! Oh, I received a comment that the chain is now owned by a company based in the US and Brazil.

Yes, it took me a while to decide what to eat, cos the selection was unique.
Gingerbread sounds so festive, and I bet you'll start seeing much more of it as it gets closer to Christmas.

The seating definitely speaks, " Come here and sit for awhile."

💯 That's exactly what I thought.😁

The paintings really got my attention. I'm beginning to develop a spot for art and i catch myself staring a little too long.

Over here in my country, coffee and ice creams are served in paper cups. It's evidently new to you. But it would come as huge surprise if I get served in a glassware. Different strokes, isn't it?

Oh, normally paper cups or disposable utensils are served for takeaway, not for dine-in, especially when they have their products displayed in glass.

I enjoyed the paintings too!

Yeah, gingerbread is not so common in that region, at all.

Enjoy the rest of your day:)

Hello friend, how great all that visit and tour of that store, where everything looks great and I was surprised that the drink is delivered in a glass, there are no glass cup over there or it comes out cheaper, however, you can enjoy, also very good that choice and the cream gives a great touch to everything. The place is very luxurious and those tables of two make it cozy. I can tell you had a wonderful time and will visit it someday haha. Regards friend @millycf1976

I'm fascinated with the place. It looks comfortable, warm and classy. Your gingerbread latte and cruller look like a perfect combination for a chilly morning or afternoon. Maybe you'd like to try something with lemon glaze next time? I've always loved how the lemon flavor and aroma mixes with the latte.

Looking good, @millycf1976 😁☕❤️

With freezing weather like that, a cup of warm coffee and a piece of snack is perfect to accompany your day @millycf1976, Tim Horton's is a very popular restaurant for the coffee and donuts they provide. Apart from that, I saw the photo in your post, the place is very comfortable with the tables placed very well

Tim Horton's in Leicester has a strategic location and is easy to reach. Apart from that, the decoration with paintings about coffee philosophy makes it a special attraction for visitors to learn to understand coffee from how it is planted to how it is prepared to make a delicious cup of coffee.

You had a great day enjoying a cup of coffee and donuts in Leicester, I would love to see you visit Tim Horton's in the Arab Emirates. It looks like there are new things that you will discover there.
