Quick cottage cheese dessert

Cottage cheese is a versatile food. It can be eaten fresh, with fruit, cereals or vegetables. Cottage cheese can be also used to make various spreads, desserts, wraps, strudels, burek and many other dishes. It is an important food because it is a quality source of protein. Unlike some other protein-rich foods, cottage cheese is easily digestible and is a filling, low-calorie food, making it an essential part of any healthy diet.

Let's take the cottage cheese and make a dessert. The particularity of this dessert is that you put the dry and wet ingredients separately in the tray. The preparation is very quick, but the result is very tasty.

Dry ingredients:

  • 1 cup of flour
  • 1 cup of wheat semolina
  • 1 cup of sugar (brown)
  • 18 g of baking powder
  • butter for the baking tray

Wet ingredients:

  • 500 g of cottage cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1 lemon
  • 1,5 handfuls of raisins

Topping:

  • 200 ml of sour cream
  • 250 ml of milk
  • 2 eggs

First mix together all the dry ingredients. Add the sugar to the flour and semolina.

Don’t forget the baking powder.

Mix them well.

Divide the mixture into two equal parts.

In the second bowl mix the ingredients for the “wet part”. Add the egg to the cottage cheese.

Add the raisin (pre-soaked in the water).

Great the lemon and mix well.

Note: this mixture needs to be quite liquid (all depends on the cottage cheese that you will use) if needed add some milk. You have to be able to pour it over the first layer of the dry ingredients.

Grease well the baking tray with butter.

Start preparing the dessert in layers. Put first part of the dry ingredients, distribute them evenly on the tray.

The second layer is filled with the cottage cheese mixture.

Continue with the last layer of dry mixture.

In the same bowl where you had the cottage cheese mixture you can now do the topping by mixing the sour cream, the eggs and the milk.

Pour the topping overall.

Gently, not to damage the bottom of the baking tray, pierce through as many times as possible with a fork in the way that the liquid reaches the bottom.

Leave to rest for at least 20 minutes.

Bake it for 40 minutes in a preheated down at 180°C.

Offer the cottage cheese dessert with a cup of milk.
