WEEKEND EXPERIENCES: Octopus fair, in Rabade, Galicia, Spain.
Octopus fair, in Rabade, Galicia, Spain
My wife and I love road trips, maybe because we've only had a car for a year. Having just bought the car, we would go exploring every Saturday, map in hand. Now we are calming down and some weekends, we stay at home and walk around the city or enjoying getting together with friend. Sunday is for resting and mentally preparing for the work week.
Last weekend, some friends from my previous job invited us to the Octopus Fair in their town, Rabade. So we enjoyed three things: the road trip to Rabade, the reunion with friends and savoring the octopus at the fair.
Huge pots for cooking octopus
At the fair, they cook the octopus in huge pots, this produces a lot of heat. Luckily it's outdoors and we don't feel so hot, because despite being summer, the temperature is quite cool, especially for Venezuelans, because although we have acclimatized we still feel cold when it's cold, instead of "fresh" as they say here.
The steaming pot invites you to eat
With a hook they take the octopus out of the pot. They then chop it up and serve it on a wooden base, well sprinkled with hot paprika and olive oil. A delicacy, typical of fairs. Nowhere else do you eat octopus with such a delicious flavor.
A portion ready to serve
It is impossible for me to eat the octopus so hot, I have to wait a little while. And while the octopus cools off a bit, Brenda caught me very distracted, chatting with one of the friends.
Myself, captured by Brenda
Rábade is a small community, about twenty-five minutes from the city of Lugo. Brenda and I came to it at the invitation of my friends and we spent all our time at the small local fair, but it is worth visiting. We are on a new visit to visit the interesting places of it, because it is close to us.
I leave you the location and a source with data about Rábade, so that you are encouraged to visit it. It is nice to take a tour of different towns in the area, if you like a fresh and green environment, with delicious food.

☺I hope I am complying with all the rules of the community. Regarding English, I used the Google translator to help me check my text and avoid mistakes. I apologize if there are any errors, because although I studied English, I have never lived in places where it was spoken.

Guao!!
Oh no! Octopus are so intelligent, I can never bring myself to eat them, although I used to like to eat them pickled!
"Galician style" is the best preparation I know.
