Hi Hive friends, sorry I've been absent for this week or a bit longer, as I didn't get organized and college stuff piled up on me. I had to focus on getting them done, I went two days without sleep, but in the end it got done and already, on the day of delivery, I fell asleep 5 hours in the afternoon and slept all night. I was really tired. Don't do that, organize your activities and then you will be able to do everything you had planned for that week. I saw this movie with my sister, we were looking for something to watch and it looked interesting. I was really expecting something different or common interactions, so to speak, but I quite liked it regardless. So let's go with the review.

The movie starts with our main character, Ren, who is a 9 year old boy and finds himself in a pretty complicated position for his age. His mother passes away and his father is unable to take care of him. In addition, someone from his family tried to help him, but he didn't let himself and preferred to run away to the street, where he encounters different difficulties, even being chased by the police, as a child cannot walk around alone.

One day, while he is lost in the city or just walking around, he crouches down next to some bicycles and is approached by someone wearing a hood, who asks him about his parents. Ren, hearing this, gets angry and tells him to shut up, but when he sees what is in front of him, he is silent and can only see his eyes. He says "you're a beast", this one throws it away and tells him that it's not bad at all that if he wants, he could come with him. Ren is stunned and they leave, but Ren, coming to his senses, chases after them, although he loses sight of them. He then encounters some policemen who ask him why he is alone and he runs away. As he does so, he can see the beast enter an alley. He plucks up his courage and chases after it, only to discover a large world inhabited by different beasts, called Jutenkai.

The beast finds him and tells him that he is proud that he was able to make it. This one is named Kumatetsu and wants a disciple, but Ren doesn't really want to be his apprentice, so he runs away from him. But before this, Kumatetsu changes Ren's name to Kyuta. Ren searches for him and meets another great warrior named Iozan. Upon learning that Kumatetsu has a human apprentice, he begins to fight him, due to the fact that humans can harbor great darkness that can destroy the world of beasts and humans. During this fight, Ren realizes that everyone supports Iozan, but no one supports Kumatetsu. Seeing this, he identifies with him and decides to support him, but Kumatetsu still loses to Iozan. Almost at the end of the fight, another character arrives who is called the grandmaster. In this part we are given to understand why these two fight or what their goal is, which is to be successors of the great master, since he announced his retirement and decides to become a god, but it is not yet known what kind of god. So Kumatetsu takes Ren to his house and here begins the adventure of these two and how these two characters heal their various wounds as they form a bond with each other.

This movie is one of those that I could really watch twice, as they work very well the development of each character and the different situations they have to go through and how they really feel. Like the situation of these two, Kyuta with no one to support him and Kumatetsu the same way. And how this relationship got these two to fill the void that was inside of each other. You really get attached to each of these characters and can empathize with them, of how someone who always wanted to get away from everyone can make certain sacrifices for someone they really loved. Furthermore, we will see these forms with funny and touching interactions, which makes for some light moments in the course of the film, despite delving into strong themes such as loss and loneliness. In addition, we also see how negative feelings can really affect a person. So, if you like movies with good character development and well-choreographed fights, I highly recommend this film.

I will assume that in the end the boy accepts to be the bear's disciple and becomes the new Karate Kid.

The plot sounds interesting.

Old animation aesthetics and martial arts, they definitely had referenced this from the kung fu movies.

Most likely that's the case, plus the fights are quite fluid and this can be noticed from the beginning and the old animation aesthetic gives it its touch. Thanks for your comment <3

Master and Apprentice is one of the elements of a story that always intrigues me. I wonder what the master can teach his apprentice since he is a beast.
