Not Even Earthquake Can Deal with Martyr Stat Gains | Splinterlands #345

This week's battle mage secrets focuses on the Earthquake Ruleset.

The Earthquake ruleset defies gravity as all non-flying creatures endure two damage after each round. Survival is crucial in these battles, and flying monsters have the advantage of dodging this damage each round. Therefore, opting for monsters with armor and high health is vital as they need to endure the assault of Earthquake. Another approach is to select monsters with abilities like Shield and Snare may prove invaluable in providing defence and countering against opponents with Flying abilities. The Dice summoners, Brighton Bloom and Vera Selacia are fantastic picks for this ruleset as they provide great counters and defences to the Earthquake ruleset.

Martyr, Martyr, Martyr - that is what clinched this victory for me. Look at the final round -- Earthquake damage pending, the only damage-dealing monster I have left had one health left, but it had 5 magic and 9 speed, thanks to Martyr's ability proccing multiple times in battle due to the Born Again ruleset. These +1 stat gains resulted in Void Dragon becoming an evolved beast like a Pokémon character. Nonetheless, this battle was even throughout and both sides in the battle had monsters with Martyr ability which is an absolute must and with those increased stats -- the misses became so crucial in aiding the survivability of the monsters as those without Flying were guaranteed to take two damage. A very satisfying victory to write about!

Do You Like the Earthquake Ruleset? Why or Why Not?

We have previously covered the Earthquake ruleset in May 2023, and not much has changed since then. The Dice summoners (Brighton Bloom and Vera Selacia) still reign supreme in this ruleset by providing all monsters with either the Flying or Snare ability (depending on which one you select). The Rebellion set has introduced quite several new monsters with the Flying ability, so the options are plentiful abound when tackling the Earthquake ruleset. Interestingly, only two Rebellion set monsters have the Snare ability and the ability is only unlocked at higher levels. Personally, I default to what has worked in the past -- select monsters with Flying ability and then choose monsters that have a chance to survive the Earthquake damage. It is a simple strategy but effective.
