Burning Good For Rebellion & Road To Runi Update 16 | Splinterlands #332

In this week's journey update, we get an update on how the Rebellion pack burning is going, provide an update on Land plot constructions, and get an update on how the Runi challenge is going.

Rebellion Set Update

Rebellion general sale continues to tick along, with 91% of Rebellion packs still available. What is different with the Rebellion set from other splinterlands packs is the burning of Rebellion packs daily. For the uninformed, this is from the original Rebellion announcement:

Every day, starting on the date that the Rebellion set is released, if fewer than 25,000 (25k) Rebellion booster packs are sold that day, the remainder of the booster packs (up to 25k total) will be removed from the sale pool. Of the packs removed from the sale pool each day, 90% will be burned and 10% will be sent to the DAO for use in future promotions or however the SPS token holders wish.

The burning of Rebellion packs is hopefully great for the long-term feasibility of the Rebellion cards as the previous edition (Chaos Legion) was overly printed due to the NFT bull run of 2021. I have mentioned before, but with the Chaos Legion set I was doing a 1k pack opening challenge and spent close to $4k in total running for that challenge and I don't ever see that getting a return on those packs. Hence, I think the burning mechanism is good as it will reduce the supply of Rebellion packs. Also, with fewer packs in circulation, this means fewer packs opened and therefore managing the over-supply problems that the Chaos Legion faced which should in theory keep the prices of Rebellion cards stable in the long term. In just over 8 days, the production of the two Land plots will be completed. What started as a blog post then turned into a 27-part blog series detailing the journey to purchasing the Land plots, will feel like a culmination of a long journey in which I can finally start to reap the rewards of patience and perseverance. Speaking of perseverance, let us shift focus to the Road to Runi challenge and get an update as to how the Runi fund is tracking.

The splinterlands tokenomics continue to hold steady even amidst the choppy behavior of BTC and ETH in the crypto market. DEC continues to jump above and below its $1 peg value, with it now sitting at $0.997 per 1k DEC. Also, the past week has seen more than 2 million SPS burnt and converted to DEC. The flywheel tokenomics of splinterlands is slowly starting to take shape and it is a thing of beauty.

The past week, we added another 9.6k DEC to the Runi fund which is now sitting at $432. Almost close to the $500 initial target but based on the previous Runi market updates I may need to up this target as the Runis floor price has been trending up!

For the first time since the Land 1.5 release, the Runi floor price hasn't changed in the past week. The floor price has remained constant at 0.35 ETH ($773.71). Maybe there is hope for me to get the cheapest of cheap Runi to complete the challenge!

The Runi sales activity for the past 7 days has dipped below $10k in volume for the first since the Land 1.5 release. The sales range fluctuated between 0.3001 ETH ($686.59) and 0.43 ETH ($933.12). Now the hypothesis that I have been wondering about is what continues to drive Runi NFT sales. Even with a small sample size we have seen an increased liquidity around the release of Land 1.5. Will we see the same when Land 1.6 and Land 2.0 are hopefully released in 2024?
