Mi experiencia haciéndome las uñas otra vez✨ [Esp/Eng]

Espero se encuentren super bien. Hace unos días me escapé de todas mis responsabilidades estudiantiles y fui a hacerme las uñas, aunque no escapé realmente porque ya había planificado hacerlas. Al tener mis uñitas largas, si las dejaba así por más tiempo se podían partir, y he estado muchos meses intentando que sigan saludables y largas. Además, cuando me ocupe realmente con la universidad no voy a poder ir, así que esta vez fui responsable con arreglarlas antes de que tuvieran un mes. A veces da un poquito de tristeza quitar un diseño que te encanta y más cuando está completamente intacto.

No tomé muchas fotos del proceso porque me entretuve bastante hablando con la manicurista y enterándome de que estudiaba en la misma universidad que yo y que también conoce a los profesores que ahora me dan clase. Otra muestra de que en la isla al final todos se conocen, pero creo que es más por la universidad: no necesitas conocer a muchas personas para enterarte de que media isla ve clase ahí.

I hope you are all doing great. A few days ago, I escaped from all my student responsibilities and went to get my nails done, although I didn't really escape because I had already planned to do them. Since my nails are long, if I left them like that any longer, they could break, and I've been trying for many months to keep them healthy and long. Besides, when I'm really busy with college, I won't be able to go, so this time I was responsible and got them done before they were a month old. Sometimes it's a little sad to remove a design that you love, especially when it's completely intact.

I didn't take many photos of the process because I was busy talking to the manicurist and finding out that she studied at the same university as me and also knows the professors who are now teaching me. Another example of how everyone knows each other on the island, but I think it's more because of the university: you don't need to know many people to find out that half the island goes to class there.

La conversación me dejó varios consejos sobre cómo seguir sobreviviendo a la vida universitaria. Es muy chistoso escuchar esas historias, y más cuando hay un profesor en común. Aunque hayan pasado años desde que mi manicurista se graduó, sigue siendo igual de estricto.

De lo que sí les puedo traer fotos es del gato de la manicurista, la razón por la que estar tantas horas haciéndome las uñas no es nada aburrido. Es todo un personaje, la verdad. Me recuerda un poquito a mi gato porque tienen los mismos colores, y se deja acariciar muy fácil, como si ya te conociera desde hace tiempo. Estuvo ahí acompañándome casi todo el rato, como si fuera su trabajo: entretener a los clientes para que no piensen que la espera es muy larga.

The conversation left me with several tips on how to continue surviving college life. It's very funny to hear those stories, especially when we have a professor in common. Even though it's been years since my manicurist graduated, he's still just as strict.

What I can show you photos of is the manicurist's cat, the reason why spending so many hours getting my nails done is never boring. He's quite a character, really. He reminds me a little of my cat because they have the same colors, and he lets you pet him very easily, as if he's known you for a long time. He was there with me almost the whole time, as if it were his job: to entertain customers so they don't think the wait is too long.

El diseño en esta oportunidad sí lo pensé bastante, pero solo porque quería algo con ese efecto que llaman “ojo de gato”. El nombrecito es chistoso, pero el efecto que deja en la uña es super cool, parece como si los brillitos se movieran cuando giras la mano. La manicurista me propuso hacer un ala de mariposa con esa base y quedó precioso.

This time, I did think about the design quite a bit, but only because I wanted something with that effect they call “cat's eye.” The name is funny, but the effect it leaves on the nail is super cool; it looks like the sparkles move when you turn your hand. The manicurist suggested doing a butterfly wing with that base, and it turned out beautiful.
