My wife found out how much I've been losing on Crypto and bought a new car: Kia Sorento GT Redline

Ok ok, things could be alot worse, my wife could have packed her bags and left but she didn't. She decided to one up me and spend $AUD70k on a new car.... damnit I was reserving that to buy Bro and was still deciding if I was going to entre Bitcoin. Truth be told it's not being paid for with cash. It's a notated lease but her theory is to spend the cash I've been wasting on a car instead. Probably a wise idea.

Let's be honest here there is no bigger waste of cash in this world than a car. It is an expensive asset with ongoing costs and it depreciates. So as much as I would love to drive a Lambo I'll probably never buy one even if I had the cash. My wife also feels the same way and given that Mercs, Beamers and Volkswagen all look absolutely marvellous they also come with an expensive price tag.

So she opted for the top of the range Kia Sorento which is a 7 seater luxury car. The specs are really cool, they do come with Diesel or Petrol engines but I absolutely despise a diesel engine. In Australia we call them Toorak tractors. Because diesel engines have this tractor sound and once only ever found in rich areas of the city. Big sports utility vehicles. But they're alot cheaper and and at least my wife listend and went for the petrol option.

The interior is pretty sweet comes with two not one screens a 12.3 inch digital instrument display and a 10.2 inch infotainment thats that chunky screen in the middle that you can connect things to like phones GPS and who knows what else I haven't been in a car this flash since I bought my Commordore which was top of the line when with no TV in the middle.

There are a plathora of USB connections in this car and a WIRELESS phone charger! What! Wonder if it will work on my phone. That's pretty cool.

You'll also notice that there are NO gear sticks, yup. In all cars now they go for a twisty tinny metal thing to shift gears. Quite interesting and makes the whole thing look smoother. Even the hand break is a button!

Call me a big kid but I've always wanted a sun roof and now we got one! Not just a small cut out either but one that goes from the front all the way to the back! The kids are going to absolutely love looking out the window on long drives and at the stars at night time. Well done Wife!

There's a heap of other cool features too like heated and cooled seats and ambient lighting I've never had that before but the thing that stands out is that that car is also able to be reversed by the key less entry stick. With its inbuilt sensors it won't let you crash into anything behind it but it will be great for getting in and out of tight parking spots and not scraping your doors.

If I could reference it to something it's similar to my sister inlaws Volkswagen touareg but with 100kw less and half the price.

Also, how damn sexy is that arse! Hmm mmmm love it!

But onto the engine and this is what drew my wife to the car, fortunately she knows a thing or two about motors so it's great. We do alot of driving in regional areas on open roads and highways. Get this. The petrol ending has a whopping 3.5l V6 engine that produces 200kW 332nm of torque. The diesel verity comes with a smaller engine a 2.2l Turbo Diesel which produces 148kW at a lower revolution which would make it more zippy but I prefer the grunt and the build up of petrol engine and not the tang wobble of diesel.

Petrol consumption is not that great but when compared to my V6 wagon with is 190Kw it's actually really good considering that this is a big 7 seater sports luxury SUV! It's about 9.7liters per KM or 13.7 per KM in city spaces. But this bad boy won't be heading into the city it will be going out bush.

The diesel is AWD and the petrol front wheel drive now, it's hard to decide what is better but the smaller engine needs AWD where as the petrol gains more power sending the HP straight to the wheels instead of the back of the car. It pulls rather than pushes. As someone who preferred rear wheel drive cars it's a little bit of a let down.

If you'd like to know more about the car and its awesome features check out the official kia website

But what do you think, did my wife choose a good car? Oh and she got it in ⚫

We absolutely love our Kia! It was cheaper than our Subaru and is a much better car overall. I know many love Subaru including me but I was disappointed in mine. Solid purchase! Or lease but you know what I mean.

We want the Teluride but we can’t afford that at all lol

What an epic car! I just had a look. It is not on the Australian market. That's the next one we get. It's a beast!

Looks awesome. I'm impressed by the gear improvement though, had no clue they were out of fashion. It'll probably take a while getting used to.
It's a dope lease. Well done, wife!

Thank you, yup she chose well. Leasing is a better option as all costs and fuel are included in repayments and it is before your taxed.

My KIA van has the 3.5l engine and makes 202kw it gets the ol' van up and moving rather quickly via the 6 speed auto. Yes it's a ten year old van lol.

Your wife is risky, hahaha, the good thing is that she hasn't chosen a bad car, my wife will surely choose a Toyota, she has a liking for that brand which isn't bad at all. Next time she catches you spending on cryptos maybe she'll take you out, keep the house and the car (that's what my wife would do) hahaha.

There's a 6 - 12 month wait on all new cars apparently covid has ment that no one is buying so they are made to order.

Interesting i know close to nothing of engines or vehicles, but how do your wife feels with it, when she is driving it, does it feel good?

Besides, you seen to be a bit focused on the push and the way is horse power works, but, what is the point on that? If is economical, waste no fuel, do its job and looks nice, what is there to miss on it?

It depends on your needs and where you drive. I don't live in a city but on the fringes of suburbia. I am closer to the bush than the city and we have family in regional towns that are 7 - 12hrs away.

Small engine cars are great in start stop traffic and not doing much other than commuting to and from work.

In a car I need a 7 seater for family and mother inlaw who lives with us and we all head off for long drives visiting family that can take days at a time. A small engine is not so good economically on open roads and will drink more and struggle under heavy weight of a full car load and luggage.

For example, my Holden Commodore which is similar to this car will drink half a tank maybe less with a full load of people and luggage and If I need to over take a road train (truck) I can do so with ease.

My wifes current car Hyundai i30 drinks way more fuel and doesn't have the power to over take many cars and we can't fit anything in it.

I also plan on getting a caravan as our little family continues to grow and we need even more space.

Also there is a 6 - 12 month wait on this model which we just learned so that means we will be getting the newer model which includes electric engines wo0t wo0t!

7 AND CONTINUATES TO GROW? OMG how many kids are there xD?

Nice electric engines sure is great for the climate but... Is not that a bit less powerfull on the capacity to drive?
