Be Like Tortoise

Nowadays, watching educational videos on phones, laptops, or television is quite usual for children. Sometimes, it's the parents' way to entertain them or teach them little by little.

Even I used to watch it whenever I am nursing our baby.

That's how I educate him but with a limited time of course.

I used to hear the songs whenever I played. Especially the Cocomelon. Are you familiar with it? I'm sure you do. A lot of children used to watch their videos.

This past few weeks, I encountered their video entitled, "The Tortoise and The Hare". I was already familiar with the story. But hearing it with the lyrics on the phone, I realized and learned something.

Story:

There was a speedy Hare who had been known to run fast. He's been always in a race and wins because of his ability and speed.

One day, the Tortoise approached him and ask if he want to race with him. Of course, the Hare laughs and insults the Tortoise as it was known to be slow.

But still, he accepts it and then the race began. A lot of different animals watched and attended that race.

The Hare started to give his all. He is so fast that almost half of the race was finished. While the Tortoise? He's so slow, he's just crawling little by little.

The Hare knew he would win. He's so confident as he was so fast running. So considering the Tortoise who's just crawling slowly down the road, he stopped on a tree and began sleeping. He estimated the time, that after he woke up he can still beat the slowly Tortoise.

So while the Hare slept, the Tortoise continued on his goal... Which is: to go and reach the finish line.

Little by little he progresses. He then passed on the sleeping Hare. He slowly but continuously crawls.

And there you go... He was already on it when the Hare woke up and noticed the Tortoise near the finish line. It was so late that he can't cope to beat the Tortoise.

So, in the end... THE TORTOISE WINS. 🎉

Lesson:

In our life, there are people like Hares and Tortoises. Some are fast achievers of their goals, while some are just slow. Generally, we're all trying our best to be on the top. We love to be known and recognized as the "most" or the "greatest". But sometimes, we just can't easily accomplish it. Aiming so high sometimes leads to tiredness, insecurities, and exhaustion.

So what can we do? Be like the Tortoise. Set a goal, work for it, and be consistent.

Having a goal is a great way to be productive every day. We know what are we aiming and we're focusing on it. This is also a good way to continue achieving the things that we love.

Working on it is the second step to achieving that goal. Of course, you can't reach the finish line or get the prize without doing anything. Remember that there are no shortcuts to success. You need to do something. And like the Tortoise, don't compare your ability to others. We all have different talents or skills. It's just a matter of how you view or value that potential. But the assurance is: if you work on it even at a slow pace, it will surely bring good results.

Be consistent in achieving your goal. Aiming for a goal is not as easy as 1, 2, or 3. You need to work for it now and then. Just like the Tortoise. Being slow doesn't mean you can't achieve it. It's just others get it faster than you. So don't lose hope. Stop comparing. Just be consistent and you'll get what you want without you noticing it. If you made an effort today, the time will come, and it will lead to success.

See? It's just a song or story for infants but the lesson is for us all.

So, don't rush or over-exert yourself on aiming for those goals. Just keep on a steady pace. And the time will come, you will build up the things that you're aiming for since then.

I am rely not familiar sa mga cartoon today, lalo yang cocomelon. Palibhasa walang bata samin ee huehue.

Anyways that's a great lesson din talaga ano. If we want to achieve somethint we have to set goals and stick with it. Madadapa pero dapat di susuko

Ayy ganun?

HAHAHA

The hare and the tortoise is a classic children's story. It was taught to us in elementary. And yes ecen if this is a children's story, adults can learn from it too.

Yes. Been familiar with it since then. But the lessons we learned from it change. It depends on your situation at the moment.

Yes, and maybe being contented with what we achieve is one of the missing pieces to being happy in life as well. Thanks for reading and commenting @erikah. 😍 Always been honored to have you here.

This fable has a lot of lesson to learn.
As long as you move it doesn't matter if it's fast or slow. Ourselves are our greatest competitor if we want to win without being insecure and exhausted.

Yes. We can put the lesson of it into a different situation in life. But all in all, any progress is important, even slow or fast.

And yes, I agree that ourselves is our greatest competitor. So, I think learn to talk to ourselves every morning. HAHAHAAH

I just watched this episode of coco melon with my little one. Like you, l learned a great lesson too. It isn't about who started first or who ends last. Everyone has a pace and that's okay. Our competition is ourselves.

Cartoons might be for infants but the lessons it teaches is for all. The tortoise and the hare is a common story I've known since childhood but teaches very important lessons.

Setting a goal is one thing, working towards it is another but if you are consistent, you will definitely achieve results you will be proud of 👍.
