3 New Chicks Joined Our Family

Just wanted to share a happy update from our homestead. 🥰
My hubby experimented with the fresh eggs we collect daily from our hens. He wasn’t sure if they would hatch into chicks, but he decided to give it a go. He placed them under our broody hen and waited.
Then last Thursday, he came excitedly with three happy and healthy chicks. 😍

Actually, there were four of them at first. But sadly, one didn’t make it. It got accidentally suffocated under the hen’s weight. Then when my hubby moved the rest to their safe new home, there was still one egg left that hadn’t hatched yet.

It already had a crack, so it means it will arrive soon. But after a few hours, the mother hen had eaten the contents of that last egg. 🥲
So in the end, just the three chicks survived.

Even though it wasn’t the perfect outcome we were expecting, we are still so thrilled that it was possible.
If these three little chicks grow up and start laying too, we’ll be completely self-sufficient. No more needing to buy new chicks just to keep our egg supply going. 😊

And that’s our little win on this homesteading journey.
Until my next update...
Thanks for the visit! Have a lovely day. Buh-bye. 💗🌸
