Managing Dormant Accounts: A Great Lesson in Handling Financial Transactions.
It hits differently when you are in need of urgent money but you are in a position where you can't even get access to any of the money you have in store due to one issue or the other, I am writing this post due to what happened to me recently and I was tucked without having no one to call at that moment, it was a hell throughout, I will give the full event on how it happened and what made me get stuck in such situation. I never wish to be in that situation again because it was out of hand.
So going fully into what really happened and I almost lost all my money. I remember when I first opened a bank account in order to save money that had been earned one way or the other, for years now I have been using this certain bank to keep all my money and make my finances go well in a maintained manner but due to one issue or the other relating to the name on the account, I decided to open another new account with my correct details so there will be no issue later on and this time around it was going smoothly and all my money was going directly into the bank and I remember during opening the account I filled some form and I made some signature but the funniest thing is that I don't always remember a certain signature when I use them.
That is where the issue started, after two years of using the account, I stopped using it due to the presence of microfinance banking which is now using a mobile bank instead of going to the bank to queue so any account that has not been active for over 6month will become dormant. So this certain day, I was in need of money to pay for my school fees and it was almost the deadline so I called one of my friends to lend me the money then he said I shouldn't worry because he has my account details not knowing it was the account which I stopped using for a long time he made the transfer to.
when the alert came I saw that it was the dormant account and I couldn't withdraw the money unless I went to the bank to make a complaint, then that was the next step to do. when I got to the bank I was told to fill out a form in order to get back my money and I would also need to sign using the same signature I used when I was opening the account which I had forgotten, i couldn't get access to my money that day because I had to go to the customer care so they can help me sort it out, I used days before I could resolve the issue and I was shown my signature on their system which made me remember the signature I used. Thanks to customer care for helping me out, now imagine if there was no customer care, how would I have lost that kind of money which is very important to me at that moment, since then I have memorized my signature and I can't forget again to avoid this kind of issue.
