All cities have their own charms, which they show and are their letter of introduction, some are great architectural cities, others are majestic because of their natural passages.
Venezuela and its metropolis have a perfect conjugation between the natural and the modern, its thriving cities have not left aside their history, their nature and the picturesque of a cultural town.
Barquisimeto is no exception, being the 4th most important city in the country and the musical capital of Venezuela, it shows itself to be an organised, clean, growing city, with a twilight sunset to fall in love with.
Todas las ciudades tienen sus propios encantos, los cuales muestran y son su carta de presentación, algunas son grandes urbes arquitectónicas, otras majestuosas por sus pasajes naturales.
Venezuela y sus metropolis tienen una conjugación perfecta, entre lo natural y lo moderno, sus ciudades pujantes no han dejado a un lado su historia, su naturaleza y lo pintoresco de un pueblo cultural.
Barquisimeto no es la excepción, siendo la 4.ª ciudad más importante del país y la capital musical de Venezuela, se exhibe como una ciudad organizada, limpia, con crecimiento y unos atardeceres crepusculares que enamoran.
With a beautiful obelisk and a wonderful work of art as the Flor de Venezuela, Barquisimeto did not leave aside its history and roots, that is why it shows us in the streets of the city centre, its historic centre, full of architecture and myths, today I will show you these magical places.
With streets full of cobblestones, adobe houses and large windows, the historical centre of Barquisimeto gathers history, culture and legends in these colonial infrastructures.
Con un hermoso obelisco y una maravillosa obra de arte como la Flor de Venezuela, Barquisimeto no dejo de lado su historia y raíces, por eso nos muestra en las calles del centro de la ciudad, su casco histórico, lleno de arquitectura y mitos, hoy les mostraré estos lugares mágicos.
Con calles llenas de adoquines, casas de adobe y grandes ventanales, el casco histórico de Barquisimeto reúne historia, cultura y leyendas, en estas infraestructuras coloniales.
Let's start with the "Museo de Barquisimeto", located on Carrera 15 between streets 23 and 24, it adorns the centre of the city, with a neoclassical structure, its construction dates back 40 years.
According to the legends of the city, the screams and cries that can be heard there are chilling, since the old central hospital of the city used to function there and the number of souls in pain that wander in its corridors are immense.
Comencemos con el "Museo de Barquisimeto", ubicado en la carrera 15 entre calles 23 y 24, adorna el centro de la urbe, con una estructura neoclásica, su construcción data de hace 40 años.
Cuentan las leyendas de la urbe, que los gritos y llantos que se escuchan allí son escalofriantes, ya que en él, funcionaba el antiguo hospital central de la ciudad y la cantidad de almas en pena que vagan en sus corredores son inmensas.
Let's continue with the "Cuartel Jacinto Lara", located right next to the Museum of Barquisimeto and where the city's prison used to function. This infrastructure was rebuilt in 1930 by the governor of the state at that time, Eustoquio Gómez.
Currently, the art faculty of the Universidad Centro Occidental Lisandro Alvarado functions there, and the students say that the sound of chains and military marches that can be heard in its corridors are demonic.
Sigamos con el "Cuartel Jacinto Lara, ubicado justo al lado del Museo de Barquisimeto y en dónde funcionaba la cárcel de la ciudad, está infraestructura fue reconstruida en 1930, por el gobernador del estado en aquel momento Eustoquio Gómez.
Actualmente, funciona allí, la facultad de arte de la Universidad Centro Occidental Lisandro Alvarado, los alumnos cuentan que el sonido de cadenas y marchas militares que se escuchan en sus pasillos, son demoníacas.
Let's continue with the Eustoquio Gómez House, located on Carrera 17 on the corner of Calle 25 in Barquisimeto, just in front of the Plaza Bolívar, it is an icon of the city's colonial architecture, and is currently the Municipal House.
Legend has it that the chess players who are located in the Plaza Bolívar say that at night you can see the emeritus Juan Vicente Gómez and his first cousin Eustoquio Gómez on their balconies.
Continuemos con la Casa Eustoquio Gómez, ubicada en la carrera 17 esquina de la calle 25 de Barquisimeto, justo al frente de la Plaza Bolívar, es un ícono de la arquitectura colonial de la ciudad, actualmente allí funciona la Casa Municipal.
Cuentan la leyenda los ajedrecistas que se ubican en la Plaza Bolívar, que en sus balcones por las noches se ve al emérito Juan Vicente Gómez y su primo hermano Eustoquio Gómez.
There is an urban myth between these three buildings, they say that there are tunnels that connect them, that they were built during the Gómez dictatorship and that just below Bolívar Square, there is a bunker to protect against any military uprising.
