Splinterlands - Ant Miner (Weekly Battle Post)

Ant Miner is a rewards card and it got my attention due to its name. It did not take long to accumulate the card in rewards since it was a common. The following battle is where I used it and other fire monsters to beat the all mighty Yodin Zaku.

Formations

The match was limited to 15 mana with Up and Close and Armored Up rule sets. With these restrictions I went with Pyre to keep as much mana I could for monsters. For monsters I went with an aggressive formation with low mana monsters overall. I started off with Explosive Dwarf followed by Ant Miner, Creepy Ooze, Furious Chicken, Flaming Monkey, and closing with Kobold Miner.

My opponent used Zaku which would limit their monsters quantities. They started with Cerberus and then Serpentine Spy and ended with Flaming Monkey.

Round 1

No changes after the first round. Both sides have all our monsters intact.

Round 2

In second round the entire table turned against my opponent. All three of their monsters were knocked out before the end of the round. The key here was my Exploding Dwarf was able to knock out Cerberus.

What made this play out is likely the rule set Armored Up that help protect my Exploding Dwarf to stay alive. Its melee attack would be enough to annihilate my opponent's formation.

Conclusions

The Ant Miner did not factor in the battle. Instead it was Creepy Ooze slowing down my opponent while Pyre help accelerate my formation. The Exploding Dwarf is key to winning this match and as the only monster on both sides to have a 5 melee attack it would be the most lethal attacker.

The lessons learned here is that although the best card was used by my opponent in Zaku the limited mana and rule sets can help tip the balance of the battle in my favor. I filled my lineup with low mana monsters while my opponent setup a lineup that would fit the limited 15 mana with the use of likely the best card in the game in Zaku. Still I would escape with the win.

Ant miner is a solid backiner or position 6 given the right conditions. Like the match youve shown. While the card wasnt really a factor, i wouldve come up with the same lineup in an all meleee battle. Ant miner is like insurance, you wish you wont have to use it, but your happy that its there hehe.
