Goldman Sachs Raising Cash To Purchase Celsius Distress Assets

Courtesy of coindesk there is news out that Goldman Sachs is trying to raise close to $2 billion to purchase what is known to be Celsius crypto assets that is locked up since May.

Story Here

What is interesting is that a Wall Street bank is looking for direct assets in web3, defi, and essentially the latest publicly used form of cryptocurrencies.

This is in my opinion very bullish signs and likely a bottom in crypto as Goldman is one of the best banks in the world when it comes to picking investments. They to go out and try to get a piece of Celsius is like buying cryptocurrency directly. It is great news moving forward for all and something to keep an eye on.

For instance what if there are more banks that will follow suite and begin a bidding war for Celsius assets. Furthermore what if the deal goes through and will Goldman start a crypto financial platform?

Celsius raised $750 million from investors last year, including Canada’s second-largest pension fund, Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (CDPQ), valuing the business at $3.25 billion.

Now Goldman is willing to pay $2 billion for what is likely all of Celsius. Not that far off from last year's investments made by pension fund.

Nice take. A bidding war with amongst investment banks would be so much fun to watch. You can't pretend you aren't interested in crypto when you're publicly in a bidding war for crypto assets. !LOL

What will happen to the customers of Celcius if they get sold? I feel like it's going to be a huge mess but I do think it also has the advantage of having the technology already available.
